I just picked up a pair of 805s for my second system (2 channel), currently I'm using a old Rotel 971 Mrk II integrated amp @ 60 watts per channel, as expected it doesn't have the depth. I am looking for suggestions for a pre/pro combo which will be adequate for 805s and not to hard on my wallet. I just upgraded my Classe CAP 2100 for Classe CP500/CA2200 combo to run my B&W N803...so I don't have much left in the buget.
Pre/pro for 805S

I had to use the CAP 2100 to upgrade. The first thing I did when I got them was to through the 805s on the CAP 2100. They are brand new, but the pair were very smooth together. I tried to keep the amp....but the wife is catching on regarding the prices of this stuff.
So, for future flexiblity I'm thinking pre/pro. Any suggestions?- Bottom

I'm not familiar with Nuforce products. I'll have to look into them and see if there is a place in Vancouver that carries Nuforce.
Any comments re: Primare pre30/A30.2 combo
Naim NAC 112x/NAP 150x combo (only 50 watts)
Primare I30 (integrated)
Bryston B100-SST
Krell KAV 400xi
or a Rotel combo
I want to get something that will not leave me wanting to upgrade in a year.- Bottom

I really like musical fidelity. I was checking this out earlier thinking it would be great for an office system:Originally posted by SoundgravyDoc, another option you may want to look into is Musical Fidelity.
Preamp/cd player combo.
Nice amp to go with it:

Their ads are annoying in that they always claim that their "new version" is always 500% better than anything on the market and way better than what they were selling last year. But that said, I just love their equipment.Originally posted by SoundgravyOne of the most memorable auditions that I ever had was a pair of 803D's driven by Musical Fidelity equipment.- Bottom

Thanks for the input.
I intially was considering MF A3.5 or A5, but for some reason started focusing on Primare and the others I mentioned.
I haven't listened to MF with B&Ws, for some reason I thinks of MF is more for classical music. Where I have the 805s, it is exclusively Rock/Classic Rock/R&B(ie. loud and fast).
Am I wrong to assume that?
If so, would the A3.5 be enough for 805s or do I need the A5?- Bottom

I don't listen to classical and use MF. I would think the 3.2 would be fine. I have a 308CR that is very heavy duty running a pair of Brystons and N801's. The 3.2 is only a few years old. This is for an office system, right?Originally posted by docpThanks for the input.

EDIT - I forgot you are looking for an integrated amp. The 3.5 should be fine.- Bottom

My dealer may be bring in Linn products in the new year.
I'm picking up my Classe CA2200/CP500 for the 803s on the weekend, so that will probably keep me distracted for a while.
The 805s are such great little speakers, that it will be fun in the new year to match them up with something special.- Bottom

MF A3.5 will be sufficient for 805s. I currently run my 805s with and older MF A300 which has similar power to A3.5 and the combo sounds fantastic. I also use a MF amp for my 802D stereo setup and it too sounds fantastic. MF is not only for classical but does well with all sorts of music.- Bottom

by gerardhnHi,
I read in a German magiaine an interesting article. It was not tested for Classe, but for some others. The conclusion was:
An (amplifier + end amplifier) in horizontal biamping mode is much better than (pre + end amplifier) combo and worth the price difference of (amplifier...-

by sskimI've been using ROTEL RSX1057 to drive 805S with SVS PB12+. Even though I've been happy with 1057, I've always thought 805S 'deserved' a bit more than 75wpc. Last week I had an opportunity to buy a mint conditioned used Classe CAV75, at a great price and I took the plunge. My plan was to bridge it...-

by JimTWI mean overkill as in the price of the CAP 2100..... and will the 805S
be able to capitalize on the purity of the integrated amp?
I love the 800 series, so for my own system, they'll be the 805S.
Trying to find an amp that will give me the nuance and similar
style...-
