    Spikes for B&W 802 Nautilus

    Hi,

I am looking at spiking my B&W 802N and would appreciate some suggestions. I am aware of the spikes you can buy from B&W. Are there any better options?
    Thanks.

Sound Anchors makes a stand as well. It works a little differently than the B&W option. It's a little frame that you set the 802s on, makes them an inch or so higher.

I thought I rememeber reading that the anchors raise the N802s 7 inches. (seemed like a lot to me) but *shrug*

I inquired about these and found that it would cost about USD1000 to buy and ship to Australia. Anybody got a used pair they want to sell?

Are there any other options? I could have used after market spikes like the Nordost Pulse Points but there is no flat area under the front of the 802N to place them under.

          $1000? Ouch!

You might be able to make a platform of some sort, maybe out of MDF/HDF, cut it to the same footprint and put the Pulse Points under that.

            Sound Anchors = buyer beware! ! !

I made the mistake of ordering some sound anchor stands for my amps.

Their service is the world's worst and their attention to customer needs is non existent.

            DONT BUY SOUND ANCHORS ! ! ! ! !

Thanks for the suggestion but I think that might defeat the purpose of the spikes.

Then the best way to go IMO is with the B&W spikes.

I checked on that as well. It will cost me USD 600 plus freight charges through the local distributor. Does anybody know the cost of these overseas (UK or US)? USD 600 sounds high for a set of 8 spikes.

Heck, I think my dad got his for free from the B&W dealer...

You might check around at some different places. Someone here in the US may be able to get it cheaper and ship it to you for much less. $600 USD is just crazy.

I bought a pair of lightly used 802N's from my dealer last year and negotiated for a pair of spikes. They bought the spikes from B&W for me and I saw the receipt. They paid B&W $150 for the spikes.

You may want to take a look at these:

I use the standard SuperSpikes for my 804 and find them much more stable than the supplied spikes.

Just my own experience : I got the 802d spikes last weekend from my dealer ( free of charge), installed them, not happy with the sonics, the lower ends are just not right, when I stand - the lower endsm slightly bloated though well defined in a way i can track a bass guitar all the way. In my sweet spot sitting position, I actually FEEL the lower frequency and not really hear them well, as if they were bypassing my ears and getting into my chest and guts.
I know, room acoustics, standing waves etc. My room is saturated with bass traps, mid tone traps and so forth, really no room for more.probably need to play around with the speakers position. gee , does one have to work so hard to reach acoustic nirvana ??
                                suggestions anybody ?
PS Danish, you're welcome to come over and listen to this !

Thanks for all the responses. It looks like the B&W spikes are expensive all over with the possible exception of the US. I don't think I will have any success in trying to get one from a dealer. I know that they are not allowed to sell over the internet. Is there a kind soul out there who is willing to find out what it costs in the US and willing to buy it for me?

I have the SuperSpike feet under the 802N right now. It made a significant difference which is why I am quite keen on pursuing this. The problem is that the 802Ns do not have a flat surface under the front part of the speaker. The superspikes are under the edges of the front two speaker casters.

i have a set of spikes for 802D, wife won't let me use them so i would be willing to let them go at a reasonable price, don't know if they will work with the older 802N, you could check on that and the private message me if interested

I have been looking at some used 802 but noticed the Nautilus is the earlier model. Can anyone shed some light on their differences, how they sound etc. You can pick up the early one's for a fairly good price these days, considering the 802D's are £7800 here in the UK still!! Nuts!

I sold my NHTM1 about a year ago. Over the past year I have missed it more and more.

Ive been keeping an eye out for possibly another. Well in my search I came across an HTM2D that had previously had the diamond tweeter broken. This wasnt an issue to me as I have N802s. I dont care for...
