800D. It's all about the music.

Yesterday it was some of Bach's greatest hits, and Metallica's Reload CD. All at about 50 watts. I've got nothing to say really but sometimes you just have to share the passion.

After some 150 hours on the speakers and some 50 or so hours on the front end, the soundstage and musical delivery of the 800D combined with the McIntosh MCD/MDA continues to astound me.

That MDA/MCD combo is for sure my next buy!!!Just have to convince my wife!!!I'm very aware of the fact that adding the MDA 1000 to your set is one of the best moves you can make!!!

I can feel the passion Jesse. How 'bout them goosebumps too?!!! I only WISH I had the time to sit and listen to my 800D and Classe' system all day long but momma and baby have other ideas. If this is what they meant by having the best of both worlds then I'll take it! LOL

Ah yes. The goosebumps. It usually happens when I hear a nuance, sound or inflection that I never heard before. Or, when the wall of music coming at me is so real and huge it distorts my senses. The fact is, with this combination of gear (in my room and to my ears) I'm hearing and experiencing these things even on very familiar CD's for the first time.

My passion for music is reborn. I simply don't know any other way to say it.

          McIntosh MCD-500 vs Denon DCD-2010AE?
          by Tweir
So another interesting find. The McIntosh MCD-500 has a claim to be entirely new by mc with a shared transport. But it appears these two units share alot more than that.

MCD-500 priced at 6000.00 or 6500.00 not sure and the DCD-2010AE is 2244.00 or 1699.00 euro.

          Breathing life into your passion
          by ShadowZA
Here's a friend (Nicolaas Van Den Bergh) whom I've known for many years who is following his passion ... making music. There's something in Nic's voice that takes me back to the days of listening to Chris Rea, Joe Cocker and even a hint of Mark Knopfler. (Btw, Justin Bergh is Nic's son)

          800D Employs Superior Crossovers
          by RebelMan
Well folks the debate about the crossovers used in the D models of B&W’s newest 800 Series speakers rages on with renewed life. Thanks to the photo Race Car Driver dug up in another thread showing the crossover network in the base of the 802D plinth proves different crossover components are used...

800D and VLT but what about HT?
          by MikeS
I was really into audio gear in the 1970s (yes, I'm old) and was able to try many tube components of the era from Marantz, Mac, early ARC and more. My last set-up was a Marantz 8B amp (fantastic highs), Mac C22 pre-amp (good highs, mediocre bass) with 15" JBL woofers, Altec drivers/horns and ElectroVoice...
