    B&W drivers

    Hey all,

This is probably a stupid question, but I gotta ask.

A Focal JM Lab dealer told me a couple days ago (in his attempt to sell me a Utopia in place of the 802D) that JM Labs make some of the drivers for B&W.

    True?

I'm sure not for the 800 series, but any other speakers?

    Just wondering.

I'm pretty sure that B&W makes all their own drivers.

JM Labs does, however, make drivers for Wilson Audio.

No . B&W is in house only
Those who know it all know less than those who don't

Not a stupid question at all. But here's one for your salesman.

Does he sell cars too?

Focal JMLab, now called Focal (again), is the French adversary to England's B&W, if ever there was one. B&W definitely does not source any components from its fierce competitor. In addition, Focal is second only to B&W in the European countries for market penetration.

You say advisary, I say adversary, let's call the whole thing off!

Just kidding... But this kind of gives you the idea of the sort of stuff I have to deal with in Pakistan. You know what they say, "Anything that doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!"

Well, I'm still alive, and (hopefully) a better person because of it. The amount of BS, back stabbing, lying, cheating, stealing that I have to face on a day to day basis is sickening... and this is just buying audio!

                Enough venting for now!

                  Fauzi,
You are better of getting a job at B&W Labs In the U.K.,and all this BS will go away Pronto my friend!!!
B&W does all In house work on their speakers and equipment. No outside drivers in these babies. All 100% pure wholesome pure British B&W fed parts here!! The real Mcoy!!!
Why don't you open your own B&W dealership in Pakistan and you'll be far away from all the back stabbing, lying, cheating etc...!! Then you could give yourself a great discount?!!!! for those 802D you are desperate for.
Good Luck Fauzi on your long quest for Audio Nirvana!!!!
                  Cheers!!!!!!!

                      A little slice of heaven.

Spur of the moment... trudged to one of the dealers in Manhattan after work with an intent to listen to a jm Lab set. Salesmen approaches... asks me my listening habits, what I'm currently using, and what I prefer/would like to improve... To my surprise,...

I am planning a new project. In my main living room I have some old diy speakers with a subwoofer I want to replace. The speakers sounds good enough but I want to build something nicer and remove the subwoofer.

DH Labs Silver Sonic Q-10 Speaker Cable
                      by Phil Rose
Because of a thread on another forum where our very own ThomasW recommended DH Labs Silver Sonic T-14 speaker wire I decided to order a bi-wire set. Not until the cables were on their way did I find that DH Labs "just" introduced their Q-10 cables. See this link for details of the cable:h...
