I'm trying to decide what to upgrade next on my system. Looking for the bigger bang for the buck on either a new sub or amp. My present sub is a Velodyne DLS5000R (15 inch) and my amp is a B&K AVR-507 (150w@8 and 180w@4). My speakers are 803s fronts, HTM3s center and SCM1 surrounds. As for the amp, I could use the prepro section of the reciever and go with a Classe 200x3 or Krell 250x3. The sub I have in mind is a Velodyne DD-15 or DD-18. Unfortunatly I have to do this a piece at a time, 2 to 3 pieces a year in order to retain my marraige status. Later on down the road, another amp and prepro. What would you suggest? 80% HT, 20% music. Thanks

I would do like you say and get a 3-channel amp for the fronts and use your 507 as a pre-pro.
What kind of room and room treatments do you have? If you have issues with the lower frequencies, perhaps there is something else you can do.Danish -
Room is 30x15 with several large openings into other rooms and hallway. No room treatments, but due to the open area behind seating area into large kitchen area I don't believe I am getting any real issues in the lower freq's.Comment

I have 803S Fronts, 804S Rears and a HTM1 for the Center channel. For amp I have a Krell 3x250 for the LCR, and a Krell 2x200 for the rears. Upgrading the fronts to 802D is possible in the distant future.
