    DM 303's

    Hello

I'm new to this board and also B&W's. I reccently bought a pair of DM 303's and will buy another pair and the center. The sub I have already ordered. I would like to know if anybody else has a pair and your opinions on them.

    Thanks

I was recently about to purchase DM303's but my dealer convinced me that the DM600 S3's were a much better deal for only $50 more ($350 vs $300).

Hi, welcome to the forum... and B&W ownership.

There's something that happens quite often on this forum, someone posts, asking for advice on their (for example) 600 series speakers, and many reply by suggesting the purchase of a pair of 800 series speakers etc, as if the extra cost didn't matter? I often doubt that this is of any benefit to the author of the original post, so I cannot believe that I'm about to make myself guilty of the same thing!

Thing is, I owned a pair of 303's a while back, also my first pair of B&W's. Within two weeks I'd tried a pair of 601's and the sonic difference was without doubt worth the (small) extra cost. The dealer took them back and at the price I paid and I became the happy owner of a pair of 601 S3's, in a black ash finish. Without trying to sound like some kind of speaker snob, please consider doing the same if you can afford it, in my humble opinion the 600 series is miles ahead of the 300 series, and a real taste of the "magic" of B&W's upper series. Forgive me....

Otherwise, if you're happy with your 303's and wouldn't change them, consider a pair of matching 309's, two & a half way floorstanders as your main fronts, if your room will allow space wise and move the 303's to the rear, instead of bothering with the sub.... don't know if you listen to much music..? The floorstanders would be better for music replay.. (I'm not a big fan of sub's and sats for music, but that's just me.) and would probably give you decent enough low frequency punch for the meanwhile.

Good luck, whatever you decide! :T

Great little speakers and probably the best budget speaker to build a complete theater on the market...as mentioned the 600 is a great speaker but that little difference between them when buying two sets + a center + biwire + the next sub up it adds up quickly.

Save that extra cash and throw it into your speaker wire and interconnects....

A good shop will offer you a trade in program when and if you ever want to move up but I think you will be quite happy with your 300's and have a killer sounding system that will out perform anything in that price point for quite a while.

You have already bought them, so, asking for opinions after the fact seems kindoff pointless. If you like them, smile and be happy. Know there are better and worse out there. I assume/hope you listened to other speakers in a similar price range and liked the 303's best. If so, be happy till you have more money to spend. If not go listen to more speakers. B&w's are fine speakers but you may be able to find something you like better for the same money. It really doesn't matter what we think, they are your speakers so all that matters is what you think. . . .

All I was doing was just wanting to hear other opinions from other owners of the DM 303's.

RH, I guess you committed the most terrible of sins...buying speakers and then asking others for an opinion...shame on you.

I had them and really thought they were good value. Nothing wrong with them when comparing them to other speakers in the same series or price range.

M-1s as rears in 600 series setup?
                      by P1et
My wife and I just moved into a new home and the living room is a bit smaller than our last house. I currently have an LCR60, two 602 S3s and a ASW 625. No rears yet. I was thinking a pair of M-1s. I am not sure if I have room for 600 S3s or 601 S3s.

                      Thoughts?

I think I have to blame perla4u for his "Worried new B&W owner thread"

I have been in the B&W family for a couple of years now, with a pair of 603 S3s in my main 2 channel setup and a pair of 600 S3s in the kitchen.

                      Hi folks,
at first thank you for the awesome B&W forum, I must admit I spent alot of time reading your posts - great stuff , very interesting.

I am about to buy a pair of BWs, but don't know exactly what to buy. My personal experience is that the 804S are really fascinating...

                      Hi all,

New to the forum, though I've been hooked on B&Ws for 8 or 9 years now. Great place. Anyways, I'm looking to add to my setup and was hoping for a little advice from someone who knows more than I do (probably everyone in this forum, as I'll admit I'm a little deficient...
