    Looking for series 600 input..

I am looking for advice. I am planning on purchasing 600 series speakers for my new home. I am on a limited budget. My room size is 15X19. I am planning on using the speakers for both 2 channel and surround sound. I have decided the DM604 S3 will be my basic left and right speakers. I would like some input into the relative difference between the DM 601 VS. DM 602 as my surrounds and the LCR600 VS. LCR 60 as my center channels. I will be using the ASW650 as a sub. Also my dealer only has the black boxes to see. Any opinions as to how the oak finish looks. My whole house is wood furniture and floors.

you would need the LCR600 to match the 604's to have balanced front speakers.

check out the sizes of the 602 and 601 ... even if the 602 is way better than the 601, you would have to live with it's size.

the subwoofer doesn't have to match the brand of the speakers ... how much is your budget for the subwoofer? Would you consider the Velodyne SPL12R?

I think the 602 does sound quite a bit better than the 601. But Mike is correct that the size of the speaker might be an issue for you.

Do you have room for a large stand mount like that?

Personaly, I'm a fan of the black finish,b ut that's just my taste. Oak certainly looks good if that's the look you are going for...

I have the 602's for my mains (paired with the LCR 600 for center). If you listen to multichannel music, the 602's might be a worthwhile investment for your surrounds, but if you're mainly thinking for home theater, it might be easier on your wallet to get 601's or even the 600.

IMO, the 602's are the best bang for the buck in the 600 line. But as rear/surround speakers, they are a trifle big.

Best Bang-for-the-buck really depends on what you listen to and how you like you music. IE:

              Music listening:

If you like 2 channel music without the sub you will probably want 603/604 depending on how base heavy you like your music for the fronts.
If you like it with a sub you can use 602 plus a sub-woofer (but for the price with stands you might as well get a 603).

For movies you can get away with 601 in the rear, but if you listen to multi-channel music a lot you might want the rears to be the same as the fronts, or at least get the 602.

If your right and left speakers are bigger then the 601 you will need to get the LCR600 to get it to match (I have the LCR60 and it's a touch weak for the 603s).

As for the sub... If it is primarily HT you might want to get a ported sub (I think the ASW650 is sealed but I am not sure and you might want to check). If you listen to music a lot you might prefer a sealed sub.

To reiterate, DEFINITELY go with the LCR 600 for the center. You don't want to pair the LCR 60 with 604's.

Rear/Surround speakers are another matter... If budget is a major concern with the 604 mains and LCR 600 center, you could always go with a DM600 for the surrounds, and then if you move to a 7.1 system, you could get 602's or 604's for surrounds, and move the 600's to the rear...

                  Sam plan, more questions

I'm planing to get 604 for front, 602 for rear, and the LCR600 as center for my bedroom-HT (room size 14x17)

Honestly, I know very little about the Amp, pre-am, receiver...So, could any1 help me with the Elect. components
I should get to drive those speakers ?

I was thinking about getting RB-RC1070 and Arcam250 receiver. Can I connect parallel the 604 to the Receiver and the RB-RC ? Is it worth to spend that much money for a bedroom theatre ?

                    haha, your bedroom ht is better than my main one (;

You might want to think about a Rotel receiver, it'll adequately power the speakers, though I'd imagine Arcam would be similar. If you wanted to go with an amp, the Rotel RMB-1077 is a nice little amp, and it's small size might be nice for a bedroom HT, if you can hack the price.

To answer the question about the RB-RC...

I would just get the receiver first and see if that is adequate for your purposes for Music listening... You may not hear enough of a difference to justify the extra cost/complexity to a second dedicated 2 channel setup as well as a HT one in your bedroom.

                        Hi everyone,

I'm really new to this forum and im am about to go with the B&W route. I have been reading diff. threads out in here specifically for the 600 range.
My plans are to go with DM 602 s3, LCR 60 or maybe 600 depending on your replies w/ probably the 600 for surrounds....

                        Hi guys,

As far as my previous threads, you can see that im currently building my new HT set-up and i currently have the 602 s3 for the fronts and LCR600 as what most recommed. Within the week i'll be getting the surrounds which most of recommend the 600 or 601 depending on my preference....

I've finally decided to move to 5.1 instead of stereo hi-fi, so bought an AVR1804 (6x90W) and 602 fronts and 601 surrounds. I have a 6x5m room half open on 1 side, high ceiling, hard tiles. I listen to 90% music / 10% movies, at low levels (just enough to hear all the sounds). I have always been against...

I have another post asking about 600's, but I thought this was different enough to warrant a new thread.

I will be auditioning the 602 and 602.5's this week. I have read a ton over the last few weeks about them. I came across a few reviews that state the 602.5's are inferior to their...

                        Hello all

Just wanted to say that IMHO the 600 series 3 standmount speakers are the best value speakers out there. They may not be the most fashionable speakers out there (I think the drivers look great though) but sound per pound, can they be beaten?

                        I first bought a pair...
