Anyone mixing CDM NT series with 700 series?

I'm currently running a 5.1 setup with the following: CDM 9NTs in front, CDM CNT center, and CDM 1NTs in the rear. I'm considering moving the 9NTs to another room (where I have a 2-channel system), and looking for ideas to replace them in the 5.1 setup.

Obviouusly, the CDM NT series are no longer available. So, barring any fabulous condition black 1NTs showing up on Audiogon (eyes open...), I'm considering purchasing a pair of 705s for the fronts. All would then be comperable in size/frequency range, but I'm wondering how they would blend with the CDM NTs in terms of overall sound.

So, does anyone have any experience with this type of scenario?

    Any input is appreciated!

I would say keep your CDM NT setup for HT and move up the food chain for 2 channel.

Save up and go up to the 800 series (Nautilus or S series)

Fife, that is definitely an option I considered. However, I'm having trouble justifying (to myself) the additional cost of an 805 vs. 705, which is roughly 50% difference in price.

Just for kicks, I moved the 9NTs to the other room last night, and will audition them in strictly two-channel for a while. So, the 5.1 setup now consists of 1NTs, CNT, and 602s in the back. Both setups sound pretty good, really!

If money weren't a factor, I'd leave the 9NTs in the two-channel setup, and replace my theater with 4x805s and an HTM4s center...but that's not in the near future, I'm afraid...

I have a pair of 705s in the rear and am using CDM 7 SE as my fronts, it sounds fine, but I'm going to upgrade them to 704s or 703s can't decide yet.

As someone suggested go with the 803s as the fronts - save up if you have to. Although -the 803s like power - so it also depends on the components you have.

I have the N803s as fronts, CDM cnt and Signature 700 series in walls as surrounds. These sound great together! However I have 400 watts going into EACH 803!! So 800 watts into the L and R. These are biamped with Rotel 1095 (lows) and Rotel 1080 (highs) amps. The other channels of the 1095 push my CNT and my surrounds.

Sop it may depend on your financial situation.

Well, after a lot of thought and a lot of research, I decided to stick with an all stand-mount setup (due mostly to the size of the room, and I've already got the stands), but...

I decided to go ahead and make the jump to a pair of 805S and an HTM4S for my fronts and center. Will be moving the 1NTs to the rear for the time being, until I can justify a matching pair of 805S in the rear. Decided that moving from the CDM NT series to the 700 series didn't make much sense. Also went from Black Ash to Cherry to match my Bell'O table.

Can't wait 'till they arrive -- hopefully in less than a week!

Got 'em last night! As mentioned, decided to go with 805S and HTM4S in the front, and moved CDM 1NTs to rear. Boy, does this sound sweet so far! Been playing them continuously last night and today, to attempt to break them in.

At first, I didn't realize the foam plugs were inserted since I hadn't removed the grills (wow, these grills are difficult to remove!). Sound so much smoother once I figured it out.

Will post updated pics later. For now, back to "David Gilmour in Concert"...

                  100W enough for B&W CDM 9NTs?

Compensating for a 'Mismatched' B&W Center Speaker
                  by Blindamood
In my B&W 5.1 setup I currently have a CDM CNT center speaker, with CDM 9NTs as the front left and right mains, and 1NTs as surrounds. This is not an ideal setup, as the 9NTs are not perfectly matched to the center (9NT has the FST midrange driver, etc.). It seems that many other B&W owners...

                  SNT versus 1NT for surrounds
                  by Sounder
I'm looking for new surrounds. Currently, I have 9NTs for front, CNT center, and CDM 1SE for surrounds. I want to move the SEs to another room, and put matching surrounds. I'm interested in either the CDM 1NTs or CDM SNTs. As far as overall sound quality, what thoughts do you have on the fit for...

                  Which combo would you recommend?

First off, I have to blame all of you for giving me upgrade-itis before I've even purchased anything other than speakers!!!

I recently purchased (with the help of my wife's money), some new B&W speakers. The set consists of two CDM-9NTs, two CDM-1NTs, a CNT and ASW CDM. They currently...
