    Biamping Biwiring my B&W 603 S3?

    Hi,

I have a set of 703 s3's and a Harmon / Kardon amp with 4 sets (2 pairs) of outputs... is there likely tobe any advantage in removing my speakers binding posts and using both sets of outputs?

Is this likely to damage my speakers? Will the crossover attached to the binding posts still filter out inappropriate frequencies if I do that?

And, I understand that this is biwiring. If I wanted to biamp, what sort of features would I be looking for in terms on an ampflier(s)? If there is a guide anyone could direct me to I'll happily read away.

    All advice apprecciated...

Do you mean 603 s3's or 703's or what? Anyway, biwiring can do good with good wire but it is probably only worth it with 800 series. A nice rug on the floor will give you better return on investement than more cables

You are not removing the crossover so this is ok.

You will need a preamp and two stereo amps or one multichannel amp with at least 4 channels (most have at least 5). If you harmon has appropriate line level outputs, I think that you can just add one appropriate stereo amplifier. Again, this is probably just worth it with the 800 series.

So my advice is get your room acoustics right, and get good cables (for a total of 5-10% $$$ of your system) if you don't have some. But in the case of biwiring, I think that one great cable is better than two for the same price.

        biamping

so, does this mean that in the world of hifi biamping, both amps feed the same signal into the speakers high & low terminals where the speakers built in crossover disposes of the signal it doesn't require?

the reason i ask is that in a pa system the signalis first feed into a crossover which separates the signal into bass & mid high or bass / mid / high and feeds only a particular frequency range into an amp and then on to th speakers...

        cheers

It costs alot less to do a crossover for line level signals than for speakers. But in most HiFi cases, the crossovers are already in the speakers. A big exception would be *THE* B&W Nautilus that has an external cross-over and requires 4 amplification channels per speaker. Speaker companies just don't want to *force* you to biamp

            HTM7 a good idea in a 603/602 system?
            by FSonicSmith
My dedicated HT room (which I'm still in the process of completing) will have a Rotel 1056 receiver, a Denon 2910 DVD, two 603 S3s in the fronts, and 2 602 S3s in the rear. I am going to drive my fronts with a separate amp, a McCormack DNA-1, in order to free up the receiver's power supply (I already...

            Hello,

I'm new to the forum, and I own a pair of DM600 S3's (for my kitchen) and a pair of 603 S3's in my living room.

I've been thinking of upgrading the 603s and have been considering the 704s. However, after lurking and reading some of the posts on this forum, I have...

            Help me decide - 601/603/CM7
            by SF_VR6
I initially decided to go with 601 S3 with LCR60 center but I figured afford just a bit more for better sound. This then became a dilema.

So I decided to step up to the 603 S3 floorstands. These however are better matched with the larger LCR600 centers. The problem is that this size center...

the DM603 S3s or the new 700 Series:704 or 705s (essentially an updated version the CDM NT series) as fronts. Can people tell me if there will be an major audible difference between the 2 and if so, is...
