Sorry misterdoggy, but those are the older Nautilus 801s not the newer 801Ds. Apparently, PAV published the wrong pictures. Though they are appreciated just the same.

Thanks for the heads up on that. I wouldn't see the difference as I am not an 801 man. I am waiting to become an 802D man. How can you tell whats the give away, because I am looking in the same issue of the 801D's and it looks the same to me?

It also goes on to say that That the most beautiful results were obtained using 3D-Lab S300 (2x300W). That bi amplification from 2 mono blocs S300's was the thing. The Studios at Abbey road use 2 mono blocs M400 Classe Audio for bi-amplification on their 801D's and its not by accident that they chose this combo.

Actually, it's pretty obvious. The tweeter in the picture is setback, the FST driver is protruding and the bass driver "surround mount" is round. The newer 801D has a forward looking tweeter, a flush mounted FST driver and the bass driver surround mount is not round, which was the biggest give away.

That's an 800D or 801D picture. The Marlan head "swallows" part of the tweeter on the new 800 series whereas it doesn't on the old.

Also, it's Rosenut. N800 series was only available in Black, Cherry, and Red Cherry.
