    Dent in my tweeter

Okay, so I'm moving my 601 s3 and i accidently press into the tweeter putting a small dent into it - a little smaller than a dime.

I used some tape and pulled the dent out but now there's a round crease line where the dent was.

Does this affect the tweeter's performance? Do I need to replace it? And if I do, what is the easiest way to do it and what will it cost me?

    Thanks.

The tweet will be fine, but it is a good excuse to upgrade.

Well, it seems I can order the damaged part from B&W and swap it out myself. Doesn't cost that much.

I can't hear any difference but looking at it is driving me crazy.

hehe I know what you mean, I couldnt live with it with my OCD'like nature... sure you could manage to replace it yourself but I would ask B&W themselves about DIY (your S3 should still be under warranty?)

Not a big enough excuse to upgrade. Yet.

I called B&W and they said it's an easy swap as long as i know which end of an allen wrench and screwdriver to use. The speakers are fairly new but I bought them from a private owner so the warranty isn't available. Anyway, I figure doing it myself is faster and cheaper.

Believe me it's easy - I didi it many years ago on the same speaker.

BTW I also couldn't hear the difference but just looking at it got on my nerves.

can somebody hook me up with the instructions on replacing the tweeter of a LCR600? My dog reached up because he saw a dog on the screen and his just happened to dug into the tweeter. It's driving me crazy. It's still under warranty, so how much would it cost to order a individual 600s tweeter?

I called my dealer and they'd replace it for me, but too bad it'll take about 3 weeks. Kinda hard to go on living without a center channel, LOL.

My N802s came with one dented tweet when i bought them.
I ordered a new one for $99 shipped, and replaced it myself.
took all of 60 secs to replace, no tools.
It just spun off, and spun on.

Dunno if yours is that simple.
The dented one sounded fine to me too, but yea, it was the OCD that got to me!

                              Race,

Did you order directly from B&W? I have a dented tweeter on my 803's that I popped out also. The crease in the tweeter is buggin me even though I don't hear a difference. I heard that someone else paid 120 for their replacement tweeter.

I got the number from someone off the forum.
                                It is 978 664 2870. It was 89.99 and 10 shipping.
I dont remember who I spoke with though.

                                Great communication, great transaction.

I'd imagine the 800s much easier to replace yourself, since the tweeter is isolated from the cabinet. How would you guys do this yourself if you own the 700/600s? I took a look at my LCR600 and don't see a way of opening up the speaker myself, I much rather have someone do it for me, since I have no clue how to go about it. My dealer would probably charge me about the same for the replacement tweeter. Maybe I'm asking too much, but it's under warranty, so shouldn't the labor be included as part of the regular servicing? So I should only get charged for the tweeter itself then right? I'm going to the dealer right now, and I'll let you guys know how much they charge me. Thanks.

                                    I've done it.
You take out the bass driver and stick your hand through the hole up to the tweeter which comes out with a quarter turn from inside the cabinet.

You then replace the tweeter dome and re-assemble in the opposite way - takes you about a half hour max.

Just kill the beast and be done with it! My god, know a guy who's dog ate a 10 meter long SCART cable, high quality, gold fittings the lot, cost about €100. He was sory that the dog did not get killed in the proces but it's a same to kill it anyway right? For some reason, all his cables since have gon inside of the wall

If it was, then wasn't very funny. Anyways...I brought it to the dealer today and they didn't mention how much it would cost me to get a replacement tweeter. So I kept my mouth shut about how much it'd cost, kinda hoping they'd do it for free. Don't want to pay $100 for a service on a $500 speaker, I know I'm cheap.
