N803 Arcam CD 23 just bought HELP!!!!

HI , I am new on this site., I just bought on saturday
N803 in perfect condition and arcam CD 23 from a local in Santa Barbara,
I have Perreaux 2150B amp which produces
200wt at 8ohms and 400 watts at 4 ohms.
and SM 2 pre.
bought in 1984.

So far, I am not blown away at all. When I make it loud it loses something and the bass gets far away,muddy a bit, and the sound loud doesnt seem to be where it should. I also bought that day from him, Kimber Bi focal 4'.

What do i need to do to get the most out of the 803's. and CD 23
New amp and pre amp. the cd 23 and 803's are here only since saturday. I want to get blown away from my investment in this stuff, can you help.

Not familiar with your equipment but, the N803s will reveal all the warts of your upstream components. If you heard the Arcam and N803s with good amplification and liked it you may need to look at your own amplification. I'd think that the pre-amp might be a good candidate to look. Maybe your dealer can loan you a decent pre to try out.

Have you tried moving the speakers around? I think most B&W sound better with more space around them and placement is very important.
