Ok guys I am new to this forum. I am upgrading my surround system and seem to be getting more confused the more research I do. I currently have 2 dcm kx212 and at this point was planning on upgrading to the Polk Rti 10s. So you may ask why are you here then. Well I have been interested in the B&ws for a while and feel like I am messing up by getting the Polks. What model of B&W would you recommend for a price under 1800??

Welcome Bulldog12!
For $1800 if you are asking for 5 channel speakers i believe only current 600 series 3 will fit your budget.
DM602 S3: $600 retail
DM601 S3: $450 retail
LCR600 S3: $500 retail
total: $1550 plus usually You could get 10% discount from your dealer.
I almost have the similar system as stated above. I have LCR60 instead if LCR600. Overall i think the 600 series speakers sounded really nice and wonderful and they can be driven easily. You can't go wrong with the 600 series for the price IMO.
For higher end B&Ws that will exceed you budget.
For example you can only get a pair of 705 under $1800.
Hope that helps.- Bottom

you should actually go and listen to them first and find out which series sounds the best to your ears. I've seen several Polk setups at my local Fry's electronics and I think they're great speakers for movies soundstracks. I've never bothered to demo them with music since the towers require alot more power than anything they have availible to drive them, they carry receivers by Onkyo and Harman Kardan. IMO, those towers needs to have an external amp for them to sound their best. The 600s setup that Lewing suggested are alot easier to drive and most receivers will do just fine. I have DM603s, LCR600, DM601s and a SVS PB12plus/2 sub and I love the setup. The speakers excluding the sub will run you $1900, a little bit over your budget, but you should be able to get a 10% discount without much negotiating with your dealer, if you get them all at once. I only use the system for movies 90% of the time and music 10% of the time, it's great except I don't like the center speaker too much. For movies, you really "need" a clean center channel.
I'm thinking about upgrading to the 700s series, but still have to go to the store and listen to be certain, if another $2000 is worth it for the performance gained. If I don't upgrade the speakers now, I can get a ED 42 in. plasma. It's a hard decision.- Bottom

by nirvana_1911As title says, is the Emotiva UMC-1 & XPA-5 a good match for 600/CM series speakers for the price?
I have a Pioneer VSX-LX52, it was around $1,899AUD MSRP and considering upgrading to the Emotiva gear above, which will cost a similar price.
My thoughts are, is there any 7.1 pre-amp/processor...-

I would like to know which series of 600 series speakers would be a better...-
