Yes, technically I could wedge the 802s in the same place that the 804s are sitting now, but as you can see, there is not a ton of room there and they would literally be wedged. Hardly decent placement for them, and they are a bit more difficult than the N804s to move each time I want to really listen. The current room has enough volume, the ceiling opens up to 20 ft., but it just doesnt have the real estate.- Bottom

Yeah, you're in a fairly tight space, but you don't need to have your sub in that corner. You could put the sub elsewhere in the room and that would give the other components more space.Integrated 7.1 HT and Two-Channel System

ALL the big 800 series need space around them to work and give their best sound.
I proved it with my 802s and now with my 800Ds.
I have them 1.8 metres away from the side walls and 1.4 metres away from the back walls.
I am not saying that this only applies to B&Ws - it may apply to other floorstanders, but it is definately so.- Bottom

I absolutely agree but you are talking about speaker placement and the earlier disagreement was about room size. Nearby walls dramatically impact the sound and I would never dispute that. I was taking issue with the idea that one needs a large room to make the N802 or N802D perform optimally. The issue is with the size of the room, not speaker placement.Integrated 7.1 HT and Two-Channel System

Yeah, it is all about placement. That room actually opens up quite a bit, so cu ft. is not a problem. A bigger room would be required for placement though without question. It would be a waste to spend that much on such fine speakers and have them nowhere near their potential...- Bottom

Placement can be optimized. Move the sub elsewhere and you will have more than enough room to enjoy the benefits of the 802s over the lower models. If that's the speaker you like best and you have the budget, there's no good reason not to get it. If we were talking about the 800s I could see your point, but the 802s have such a small footprint.Integrated 7.1 HT and Two-Channel System

I have made a few adjustments since my last post. The biggest change is the seating (purchased through Media Design Center, drop shipping to my door).
The system now consists of:
B&W 803S
Monitor Audio Gold Center
Monitor Audio Gold In-walls
Velodyne SPL-1200R Sub
Outlaw Pre-amp
Audio Research 150.2 Mains
Parasound Halo A23 - Center
Parasound Halo A23 - Surround (hidden in far right cabinet)
Denon 2910 DVD
Motorola HD DVR Cable box
Hitachi 50" HDTV
Monster power - line conditioner
XBox 360 - not shown
I moved my other ARC amp to a dedicated 2-channel system, I am still testing the cooling with the Parasound amp. It runs much hotter than the ARC. Once I get everything set, I will re-dress the cables.
I have recently added two 1 TB network attached storage hard drives. I eventually will use them for media server storage and photo backup. They are connected to a wireless router hidden in the cabinet.
We have ordered new wood blinds and then will add the other window treatments. My wife is currently searching for a rug she likes for the floor between the seating and the front of the room.
The back view shows the in-wall speakers (my wife is a triathlete, hence the treadmill and bike breading ground.)
My next step will probably be upgrading to a HTM3S center, then adding a second sub. I will upgrade the DVD when I am confident about the format to buy.- Bottom

Thanks,
I am using the thermometer to track the temperature through a typical week. If all goes well, I will be able finish the painting, and clean up the cabling. Even after installing the fans, I wasn't happy with the temperatures around the amps. I think I solved the problem by putting the bottom amp on boards that the feet that allows air to pass below. I am using hockey pucks to provide more space between the amps. I put one under each foot and it work great. I use a 12V trigger to controlled the switched outlets on the Monster Power regulator. This turns the fans on and off with the unit. There are also holes in the top of the cabinet (behind the TV) to allow additional heat to rise out of the cabinets. I have a cover piece to hide the rigid insulation (pink) at the bottom of the cabinet. I have a heating/cooling vent below the cabinet that allows air to flow to the floor below the cabinets. During the summer it helps, but at winter the bottom shelf would get warm from the house A/C. I also have a IR repeater so the doors are normally closed. I use the IR ports in the back of the units so I was able to eliminate the little red eyes that I use to tape to the front of each unit.
You also can't see it in the photos. but all the speaker cable is routed below the bottom shelf and it pops our directly behind the speakers, so there is only a little tail exposed.- Bottom

Wow!
I can identify very little of the equipment (beside the B&Ws of course) in any of your picts! What are those round things (my guess is that they are amps because of the heat exchangers), and cou;ld you please be as specific as possible with make and model. Thanks Great Picts!- Bottom

Well after doing A LOT of research and saving my money before i head off for training in ROTC at my new college I was lucky enough to have some great local guys and one great shop to help me pick out this system.
System specs:
B&W 704's in Cherry
Rotel RCD-1072
Rotel RA-1062
Golden Sound Pad for CDP and AMP vibrations
PS Audio Power Cord Xstream Prelude SC x 2
Van Den Hul D-102 III Hybrid Interconnects
Audioquest 8's speaker wire with fork terminations biwired to 704's
This is my first Hifi system and I really understand now when people use all that freakin tech jargon like "Musicality, Open, Airy, Fluid, Attack, Decay" and all that other crap haha.
Ive increased my music selection by a lot which includes ALL of Pink Floyds unremastered cds with the exception of The Wall. Steve Miller Band, The Kinks, The Doors, Eagles, Robert Palmer, Roger Waters single, SteppenWolf, Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, The Young Bloods.
This system works wonders together and the music really is "In the Middle" as my salesman says. The midrange is fantastic and imaging is completely convincing. Best of all I can listen to it at louder levels and not have it give me a headache as my previous system did to me.
Enjoy! I know I am.B&W 704's in Cherry
