Netflix Audio

Hello. I am using netflix on a PS3 using the RCA cables for audio to my stereo pre amp. Is there any way of changing the audio I get from Netflix? It is very dynamic, which is typically a good thing. But at night in my apt it would be nice to have some dynamic compression, like a loudness or midnight mode. Is there a way of doing this? Thanks :-)

Is this the only source you have an issue with? Tyipcally, you won't find a source that will change its audio output like that--it's more a function of a receiver or HT processor. Does your pre-amp have any functions like that, you can take advantage of? Is turning down the volume not enough?

Nothing on the pre amp other then bass and treble which I'm not using. Cd's and vinyl are very dynamic which I want. And my PVR is set to compress the dynamics when I tell it too. Which would be at night. But I have no options to do this with netflix on the ps3.

Isn't there a sound menu option on the PS3 that will do that... I thought there was... Course that might only be for playing dvd/bluray.

That's my problem. All the dynamic range compression options on the ps3 are either for blu-ray or music stored on the hard drive. Does anyone have any other ideas as to how to compress the DR down a bit on ps3 netflix?

I don't think it's possible the way you're doing it if there's nothing in the app.

You'd have to have a receiver that could do the compression for you....
