Bob Carver sold out.... Litterally! :)

Looks like Bob just didn't want to deal with the company aspects anymore... I'm betting he wants to focus on playing around with audio equipment! ha ha.

Makes me wonder what kind of things we might see go into Emotiva

"Dan Laufman, chairman of Jade Designs (the parent company of Emotiva), who recently acquired Sherbourn, has officially announced that he has now also acquired Bob Carver LLC (The Vacuum Tube Amplifier Company).

An interesting move for Bob and Jade Designs. After listening to the podcast, and hearing Dan state that Bob will be part of the R&D for everything under the Jade umbrella; I'm really curious how it will play out.

I wanted to purchase a complete Sunfire system around 1999. I was also eyeing a complete Pioneer Elite system about the same time. Didn't get either because life had other plans for my money at the time. But Bob Carver's Sunfire brand would have been my first choice.

The Sunfire line has held its value quite well & rightfully so.
His current line of tube amps are gorgeous both aesthetically & sound-wise.
Dan (PewterTA) & I have spent a fair amount of time listening to them at our local audio shop.
His new speaker is also said to be in the upper echelon of products offered today.
He has been making use of ribbon technology for decades, able to extract as much potential as anyone from its capability.

I hope the new partnership proves beneficial to both parties.

Hmm maybe it'll help Emotiva be taken more seriously. They still get that reputation from some audio snobs of "oh that's just one of those internet companies they can't be that good". Be interesting to see what comes out of the partnership though! I used to have the 5 channel Sunfire Amp and Pre-amp back with my first big home theater setup when I was living in AZ, was running Klipsch RF-7 towers with matching center and surrounds.

I wouldn't doubt it probably will effect all the lines. I think that's just the way things are... they'll be able to bounce stuff off Bob and he can have some nice input. Especially if they start really going down the Tube road on the pre/amps... I don't think Bob could NOT get his hands in on that stuff. HA HA.

I think it's a benefit for all... Bob's stuff, where lacking in some of the new technology for surround sound and going into the DAC range... will benefit his line and he'll be boosting the quality of the other lines and probably moving to create a nice speaker line as well. I hope we get to hear one of his new sets of speakers here soon!!!

My Parasound Halo gear is partially inspired by Carver's work. He's a-ok in my book.

              by soundhound
Howdy folks, I am new to this forum thanks to the gentleman I just purchased my RMB-1075 from. I was using a Carver TFM-35X to run my fronts- Klipsch RF-3's, as my primary concern has been 2 chnl audio. I use a Rotel RSP-980, RDA-980, and RDA-985. I also am running the full compliment of Klipsch Reference...

              Bob Crump gone
              by Lex
If your an old timer in audio, you probably heard his name before, maybe you even met him, knew him, or broke bread with him. He was a well known poster at AA, a manufacturer of fine cables, consultant to Parasound, an audiophile and tweaker savant, and it seems a friend of most all that knew him....
