Gorilla Glue on speaker cabinet !!

    Hi All,

When I moved last fall, a friend that was helping me move busted one of my speaker platforms/ tripods. It's made of some sort of composite material so I was able to repair it with Gorilla Glue. However, in the jockeying of the 80lb speaker, I inadvertently got some of this glue on the Rosenut cabinetry!!. Now that the days are longer and more sun is coming into the living room, I can see the Gorilla glue smudging on the speaker cabinet.

Now I know this is a long shot, and anything powerful enough to remove the glue fingerprint smudging will likely destroy the cabinetry itself!. Any advice or ideas?.

    Hey Dan,

You may be able to rub it out using a V fine abrasive or steel wool.
This would necessitate re-finishing the cabinet, however.
At that point, I doubt the finish on both cabinets would match.

Hopefully those with much more finishing experience have a better solution.
Maybe try posting in the DIY forum?

Re-finishing the cabinets is NOT an option. It's not that bad to warrant it. However, it has somehow affected the sound of the speaker!!

HEY!!! I have an absolutely sinister possible solution. I coat the WHOLE speaker in Gorilla glue goop turning it into an almost piano black kinda' finish!!!. Blasphemy I know but.......it could actually work!!.

Note on Wood Glue and Gorllia Glue
          by ---k---
Because the subject of glue comes up often around here, I wanted to mention to everyone that this months Fine Woodworking Magazine did a test of several of our favorite glues. The results were somewhat surprising (or not), and exposed something that is commonly repeated to be false.

          Statements II Build Thread
          by DocNice
Starting my Statements build early. By early, I mean I don't have enough money to finish them. But I should have the money sometime in the next few months, so why not start now? My plan: Build the cabinets. Then veneer. Then do the crossovers. Attach the front. And get the drivers.

I thought there maybe some people interested in what I am doing here. I know most people use wood screws to mount drivers and such but; I guess I'm just stubborn

Merry Christmas, I am so impressed by the performance of my knew speakers that I have to share the build. I learned a lot from this forum, yet the build is rather unconventional.

Just sharing my most recent project: small 2 way omnidirectional speakers with a 5" Scanspeak midbass and a Neo 3 PDR tweeter. The cabinets are a non-equilateral octagon with barely enough room to fit two crossover boards, a large port (it's all relative), and a pair...
