    Checking Back In

    Greetings all,

I've been working on many (non-HT) projects for a while, so I haven't been commenting much here.

But it doesn't mean that I haven't been thinking about home theater stuff.

I just bought a new (to me) home and of course the first thing that was moved over to the new house was my HT equipment and DVDs. In the last couple weeks I have set up a couple very basic HT areas with a 37" flat screen LCD in the den with a HD DVR, and I set up one of my projectors in a small bar area downstairs shining onto the opposing wall.

My bigger (future) plans are to build up a semi-dedicated HT in my garage with the big (180") screen and my AV equipment.

Just now though I'm still in the moving process and making due with the commando-HT, dreaming of putting together a real home theater again in the next couple months.

And hopefully I can get some feedback on different ideas from the folks that have been keeping up on home theater tech more closely than I have been recently, from DIY projects to front projector values to design ideas.

    -Dean.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

Planar dipoles have always been one of my favorite speakers. The primary issues creating a good DIY dipole planar system have been the cost and availability of drive units.

The B&G RD series drivers are $pendy, and need a higher than advertised XO point to sound their best. In addition...

As explained in the link below, this is a 4'X3' mock-up section of standard drywall construction

It's unfinished because I ran out of finish trim. And since this is a mockup, I wasn't going to run out to buy more trim just to turn around and throw it away.

I want to build a new Home Theater and am trying to narrow down my choices.

 I am trying to rebuild my home theater entirely. I had what I thought was an extensive and top of the line Home Theater and it turned out that I was ripped off by a local dealer. In any case, I have started planning out what I need and would like to do and would like some feed back from anyone...

      Car speakers for Home Theater

      Hi all,

I need help to setting up a subwoofer for home theater using speakers designed for cars

      Motivator
High importation taxes in Brazil makes subwoofers price increase 3-5 times, a model that costs $ 800 in US can easily exceed $ 3,000 in Brazil.
