    Micromega WM-10 Airstream

Here's an interesting new network music playing device that seems to be getting great reviews all over the place for its simplicity and more noteably its extremely high audio quality, a product from a very trustworthy brand. It costs around $1500, or 999 euro. The web-page explains how they've drawn on their 25 years of experience in the field of high-end digital reproduction to deliver such a fantastic wireless network streaming player. http://en.micromega-hifi.com/airstream.html

Here's the deal: its clearly an Apple Airport Express in a big box with a modified power-supply, which uses Apple-Lossless to stream music from iTunes.

The Airport Express can be clearly seen in the middle, its antenna sticks out of the back of the case, and the USB and network ports are un-used.

Reviews of Apple Airport Express ($80): ok, but cirtainly not audiophile.
Reviews of Micromega Airstream ($1500): fantastic ueber audiophile class.

Thats quite a nice case for $1400

Maybe it's like the Bose wave radio? All that extra room allows the sound to resonate at the exact perfect frequencies so it creates a superiour sound???

I'm assuming all three of you have heard the unit and are basing your comments on actual experience? That's something I'd be interested in reading, otherwise......

Nice to see you went through the bother of registering to share that nugget. Welcome to the forum, and thanks for adding to the discussion.

No, I haven't heard it. I'm a little perplexed how an $80 Airport Express suddenly becomes a $1500 audio sensation by the addition on an external PSU and a big box.

If you have heard it, please enlighten me. Otherwise......

Well, an upgraded PSU can make a large difference...I highly doubt the PSU upgrade costs 1400 bucks or even half that and I'm sure it's not worth that much more.

Does anyone have experience with Apple AirTunes? I’m referring to the ability to stream music from iTunes to an AirPort Express or the new Apple TV. Both use 802.11n for wireless connectivity. I’m currently using a MacMini as a music server and I was thinking of adding an AirPort Express to be...

If you have a wireless Apple network (Airport) you can buy the Airtunes device to facilitate playing your Library of Music on your computer over the stereo in your home. It comes with a toslink and rca connectors that plug into your receiver and receives wireless from the Airport. Now that I understand...

well, geez, it's a new year, and I haven't finished configuring and tweaking my last music player setup (AURALiC Aries with Mutec 1.3+ and AURALiC Vega DAC) and I'm already working on another one, a combination of pieces I've bought in the past and some new bits (pun intended) that should fit together...

              Hi Guys,
I am trying to hook up my OPPO BDP 83 to a ethernet jack to be connected to my wireless network continuously. I am wondering if there is a device that will take my wireless signal and then convert it to wired ethernet form that I can plug into my OPPO. My router is in another room about...
