Nice to see they use the same ESS audio DAC as the Oppo BPD-83 SE and Oppo NuForce Edition players use for their dedicated Stereo output. Although for $15K I hope they are using a separate one for each channel.Last edited by Johnloudb; 27 January 2010, 17:47 Wednesday.John

Why don't these companies just start selling "shells" and you can just slap in your own oppo. Saves you money saves them money, all happy in the end

It's not an Oppo inside the Krell. Oppo uses an Anchor Bay processor. The Krell is using a VXP from Sigma Design who acquired Gennum, known for some very good video processors.Santino

I feel people have said that about the CD (and LP before it) many times over and yet they are both still around. I don't see digital downloads replacing disks anytime soon.Originally posted by PewterTA15K and only about 2-3 years to use it (predicted life span of DVD/Blu-Rays).
In any case, I still can't imagine the money someone would have to invest in a TV/Projector system in order to justify such an expensive device. Call me old-fashioned, but there is such a thing as 'good enough' at well under $1000.- Danny- Bottom

An other Oppo in disguise with a few upgrades :E At least they used the SE

What a joke, that is why Classé doesn't want to play they understand that Oppo has the best and just reboxing an $800 player makes no sense!!Originally posted by PewterTA15K and only about 2-3 years to use it (predicted life span of DVD/Blu-Rays).Farming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil, and you're a thousand miles from the corn field."Dwight D. I wasn't confused by your comment.Originally posted by OvationI meant my comment as a bit of light-hearted fun, not to accuse Krell of fraudulent behaviour. Sorry if it has caused confusion.
I was confused by the Krell product. Buying a top end (i.e. expensive) amp or preamp can be justified because it's an investment that will last for years. In contrast superior video processing chips are released faster than Tiger finds new birds so spending big dough on a blu-ray player just doesn't make sense. Unless you've got money to burn of course, in which case who cares?

Well I would think that if you even consider spending 15K on a Blu-ray player, then you probably have money to burn! lol.
I think it's more to say, "All my equipment is Krell!" For all the Krell Fanboys.
Not that there's anything wrong with that...Digital Audio makes me Happy.

I kinda feel that way , Blu ray today you really can't tell the difference from one good quality player to another. Sony , Pioneer , Samsung , LG all have great offerings. The Oppo is fantastic and have equal quality to all the other players. The Ps3 have a great picture. I did however notice a slight improvement in picture quality using a Pioneer ELite projector and 106 screen with the Elite and the Ps3 giving the edge to the Elite BDP-05 .Originally posted by PewterTAWell I would think that if you even consider spending 15K on a Blu-ray player, then you probably have money to burn! lol.

Krell is a killer company but I see no reason for this player other then what you said. Kinda waste if you ask me. the Cambridge new Blu Ray player looks great , kinda exactly like the Oppo.- Bottom

People have been touting that for quite some time already. Incorrectly I might add.Originally posted by PewterTA15K and only about 2-3 years to use it (predicted life span of DVD/Blu-Rays).

Id say BR will be around for well more than 2-3 years. Sure downloading may be more common, but I highly doubt it will replace disc media by then.
Guess we will wait and see.

I'm a proud recent owner of 802Ds, what beautiful speakers they are. But they are also very demanding on their partnering eletronics and I feel that my Accuphase E-308 integrated amp is no longer up to task. I want to upgrade to separates, power amp first, and I have these...-
