    HOME THEATER BUILDER MAGAZINE ???????

I was a charter subscriber to this publication and was following Chris D's articles with great interest. But I haven't seen a copy since the November issue. Anyone know if they have gone belly up ?

Chris: are you still in contact with them ?

    George!
I also subscribed to the Home Theater Builder Magazine.
My first issue was the November Issue, however that is the only
    one that I have received.
I can't recall the frequency of the publication.
I did not think it was quarterly though.

    Chris, What's up ?

Actually, the editor and the COO of the magazine have said that a new issue has been mailed, which is shown on the magazine website http://www.hometheaterbuilder.com My article in this one is all about drywalling.

As for the release schedule, I think they are going for an issue every 2-3 months.

They are going to have a really difficult time unless they can hit some sort of regular schedule. Did they not sell it as a monthly mag? Every 3 months is to long for sure. Some people change hobbies in 3 months.

          Monthly ?

Yeah, I bought my subscription on that basis, but as an ex-pro publishing exec, I can tell you this, you will lose your readership quickly if you don't have a firm publishing schedule and stick to it. An erratic schedule is usually a sign the magazine ownership is having money problems and this usually scares off advertisers and readers. I hope this isn't the case with HTBM, but it sure looks it.

Since I'm only a writer for the magazine, there's really nothing I can tell you that I know about planned release schedules. I do know, though, that several other A/V magazines are on a 6-9 issues a year schedule.

I just got my February issue in the mail on Thursday. Looks good! (the magazine, not me that is...) I'm still having fun writing these articles and doing the project.

Say Chris, that's good news. Maybe I'll get my copy in the next day or two.

Those other AV mags that publish 6 - 10 issues annually print their schedules and stick to them. HT Builder should be doing the same. Hopefully this is just growing pains for them and they will get things together. There is a definite need for their kind of magazine.
