shopping for a GOOD used receiver. Please advice

    Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and interested in buying a good used receiver mainly for 2-ch music and movies. I'm planning to use the receiver to push my dynaudio 2-way. I'd like a used receiver that have good sound quality and a little reliable but easy on the pocket, about under $400-$500. So, I'm looking at the used rotel rsx-1055 but my dilemma is that people said rotel's lifeline is average about 8 years or so. I don't know much about home equipment products. Please help me. Thanks all.

I have a Rotel RSX-1055 in my den that is not getting used so much anymore now that I have a dedicated theater room. It is around 3 years old, and in excellent condition. E-mail me if you are interested ! Razzbo56@yahoo.com

Hi TD, and welcome to The Guide. :welcome:

I'm not a Rotel owner, but I'd take that with a grain of salt. Rotel's seem to be built as well or maybe better than the average. Plus, the environment a component is in and the way it's used will be more telling on its life expectancy. Ie. if it's in a well-ventilated rack with no smokers or pets around, if it's maintained well (surge protection, cleaned regularly) and not driven at max or high volume consistently, it should last many years. Buying used isn't a bad thing if you ask the right questions and use a payment agency like PayPal.

Receiver shopping, Considering Rotel 1056 and I got Questions
        by Shane Martin
I'm buying a full blown 7.1 setup in a few weeks. The receiver upgrade from my current Sony 444es will probably happen in May or late April from what I can tell(TV is first!). This is part of my entire gutting of my previous equipment.

$1,100 is a rough top end estimate of what I can...

Receiver vs true pre amp comparison
        by Andrew Pratt
I know this could likely have gone in the Club Rotel but I wanted to show people that receivers can make decent pre amps in some cases....

As luck would have it I am presently lucky enough to own both the Rotel 1055 receiver and the Rotel 1066 pre amp. For those that don't know about...

        RSX1055 "analog bypass mode"
        by OakIris
Yet another newbie question from someone who has had the RSX1055 long enough that they should know the answer, but... I've done a search here, checked out the FAQs on the Rotel site and read the manual, but can't seem to find anything about HOW you place the receiver in analog bypass mode. Is it as...

        Philips DVD963SA & rsx1055

Recently purchased the Philips DVD963SA player to go with my RSX1055 receiver. I run my speakers as small on the receiver and was wondering if I should do the same in the DVD players setup for multi input?

Also I have noticed that when I change from the Co-ax input (receivers decoder),...

        RSX1055 subwoofer connection - how??
        by OakIris
:? I just bought a subwoofer - a Velodyne CHT-8 (I know, not the best sub to use, but what I could afford at this time!) - and realized that the Rotel RSX1055 has no sub connections! How do I connect a sub to this receiver? The owners manual is no help, nor is the Rotel site. I did a search here, but...
