    new sony SACD 9000es a big deal

    SCD-XA9000ES - yea msrp of 3,000 us, multi-channel, and a DAC made of eighteen separate SA DAC chips

    This is Sony's first Super Audio CD player to offer an i.LINK/firewire digital output with 5C Digital Transmission Content Protection and not anything proprietary. When Digital out for DSD (SACD) first came up, Sony said no digital output will be supported ever. I guess they got a clue that people want Digital for this. Just look at Pioneer, Denon, Meridian, even Sunfire now ( player to come ).

      Jaakan, ooooh do you have a link to a webpage on this unit? It doesn't show on Sony's site. It'll be interesting to see how it stacks up sonically to the SCD-XA777ES dedicated SACD unit (for the same MSRP).

              Thanks CK. After reading that, oooh baby, this may be the one for me. Where's that bonus check? Oh, that's next March. :?

              One question: in the article it says
              The player's optical reading system employs a dual discrete laser pick-up mechanism, featuring two independent lasers with one optical lens to provide optimum performance for Super Audio CDs and CDs as well as CD-R/RW discs.

              Two discrete pickups. Good. One lens? Hmmm, some compromise there?

                  I am in a quandry, i use an arcam dv29 for dvd/cd,and most importantly dvd-a, it is fine, however ,as usual, ( i bought BETA) i chose the format with the least choices

                  so i am trying to narrow down the choices on an SACD player,

                  Krell SACD standard...

                  Last week I picked up Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" on hybrid SACD. I finally got around to playing it at home, on my SACD player, a Sony DVP-S9000ES, and discovered that it will only play the CD layer. I tried both discs, and both are doing the same thing... the player recognizes...

                  I had auditioned (on a limited basis) the Sony 777 SACD player at my dealers, and was not overwhelmed (maybe not "burned in" completely?). I just placed my new Sony DVP-9000ES in the system, and with the SACD sampler disc included, I am very pleased. Great air and resolution, yet very musical....

                  I was hoping to get some input on something to play SACD, i have an Arcam dv29 which is excellent for DVD/DVD-A, along with the normal CD formats, but , since SACD seems to be winning the war, i need to choose one,
