Attempted DVD/CD hybrid plan fails

Not real surprising... there are just more compatibility issues than you'd expect. Plus, I find DVD-A annoying in that many disks require you to have a video monitor connected just to play music, so you can negotiate the menus. I have vastly more SACD's at this time than DVD-A's. And I have a habit of buying only hybrid ones for over a year, since the CD track is usually pushing the state of the art for Redbook, and can be used in the car- or at least a dub of it!

by hired goonG'day,
Bought a new DVD player on the weekend, which just happens to play DVD-A and SACD (a Pioneer DV-676a, actually). It's only a AUD$200 machine, so I don't expect the sound quality for DVD-A and SACD to be wonderful.
I've always been a bit suspect about instruments...-

by dyazdaniI'm starting construction on a version of the Millett Hybrid amp for headphone use. It's a hybrid design, meaning (in this case) the tube stage is used for voltage gain while using a solid state output stage (based on a BB 634p).
It is a well covered project on other sites, but as most...-

by JonMarshI picked up two new jazz titles which are hybrid SACD's; they have both SACD and CD layers, so they play on conventional CD players, also.
Spyro Gyra's "In Modern Times" is a multichannel SACD with a dedicated stereo mix to boot. It's fairly typical of their work; lucsious...-

by Kevin PJust picked up "The Rolling Stones - Hot Rocks 1964 - 1971" at Best Buy. Note that these discs are hybrid SACDs but aren't labeled as such on the package. Look for the Abkco discs, they're in the cardboard cases instead of regular jewel cases.
I'm listening to disc 1 of Hot...-
