Pittsburgh Area Get-Together

Plans for the 2nd unofficial meeting of PiTAG, (the Pittsburgh Audio Group) are underway!
Mark your calender for Saturday, 16 Feb. I will be hosting an all-day event to include, but not limited to, Dougie's DIY Lineup Maxx towers, and any interesting equipment you may want to bring for demonstration. Additionally, food and libations will be presented in generous proportions.

Doors open at 11 AM, late arrivals are welcome, and the festivities will last as long as Duquesne Light Co. supplies power. Parking is free.

I'll be there, depending on the weather I might be able to bring my B&W 604s, or at least my 602s with stands. Just as a 'reference' for who knows what.

Do I need to bring any refreshments or food?! Let me know, that wouldn't be an issue.

I have to warn my speakers are not in a very pretty state currently I will be doing a finish sometime after the meet also will be doing new front baffles as there are some things I just don't feel like fixing because it would be easier to just do new baffles.

I don't think it matters as much about the 'prettiness' of the speakers as long as they sound killer! Which I'm betting they do! :T

Trust me, I know what you mean about finding time and resources to do it all. I want to work on the Magico Mini MTM design, but I just haven't had time for it at all. Hopefully all you knowledgeable people can help me out!

Hmmm... I think I still have that disc, if not I'll put them on another disc and bring them over. I'll also have your Nitin Sawhney - Prophesy disc for ya. :T

If I bring my 604s I can bring over my cattails (one will be one that I repaired myself), but it sounds perfect.

If I don't bring my 604s, I can still take the repaired one and one channel (as the other is harder to get out). So I still should be able to bring a pair.

I'll be bringing the Chipamp I'm using as well. I did some tweaking and got it mostly silent depending on the source.

Diana will probably come as well although she'll probably be more company for your wife rather then actually interested in the equipment. Also Bob will be coming with me.

Come on, think POSITIVE!!!!!

I just did some "improving" to my B&Ws, replaced some internal wiring and used DeOxit Gold on all the connections. I think it's made a decent improvement. I'm thinking about getting some acoustic stuffing for the LCR600 since all it has is the foam lining the walls. I'm thinking that would help take some of the "boxiness" sound from the center...?? Weird how the 604s and 602s are completely filled, but the LCR600 isn't??

I think after I move I'm going to work on some DIY acoustic treatment. Probably some compressed OC fiberglass panels. I think I should get Bill in on that project his room could definitely use some That is if he hasn't already.

Well somethings come up and not completely sure I'll be able to bring my speakers over this weekend. My friend Bob got into a car accident so he's not sure that he'll be able to use his parents SUV and everything. I guess we'll find out closer to the weekend. If he doesn't then I won't have a way to bring them but can probably still come even so.

Hey, I think that's what this is all about. Not just the Hardware for us all to see/hear, but also for us to have different stuff to check out and listen to.

And coming from me, my musical taste range is almost unheard of with some of the stuff I listen to... So I'm always willing to listen to something "new" or "different."

I bet money that my musical taste is a broader range then yours From classical to modern day hip/hop and every little thing in between...except country and opera I've never gotten into opera and country is just to darn whiny for my tastes.

Ha ha, I go from classical to jazz to blues to alternative to metal to classic rock to rock to r&b to hip/hop to pop to country to indie to techno to trance to I don't know I lost count. :lol:

I listen to just about everything, but I would have to agree that I don't care for Opera as much and is harder for me to listen to that. Most likely it's because of the range of the performers voice that some of the really high ranges can tend to bother my ears.

So I know for me, whatever you'd bring, I'd be okay with, but of course I can't speak for anyone else.

I'll probably be borrowing my parents van to bring my speakers over, much easier than loading them in the back seat of my 2-dr car. So those speakers would fit better in the van then having to fold your seats down. :T

Great little get together guys. It would be really nice if you could post some comments for my speakers so I can stick them in the Lineup Maxx thread :B. Also glad everyone brought what they did it was a lot of fun even though I ended up staying quite a bit longer then I had planned! But great food some booze and tons of tunes what more could you ask for?
