Weekend participation and the saga of Bob's unfortunate accident

Guys, I know it's the weekend, a holiday one at that. But I have to admit, I am personally disappointed in our weekend activity. We seem to be a Mon-Fri forum. I really don't understand this, as most other forums seem to have a core group that always participates, weekend or not.

Is it that you don't have computers at home?

Is it that family keeps you from even logging in and saying something for 15 minutes on Sat and Sunday?

Is it that the weather is good and you just have other things to do?

Is it our median age group being older than other forums meaning we aren't as likely to take technology home on the weekends?

Is it that we aren't interesting enough?

Please tell me what it is. I am very curious. Yes, we have had a few participants this weekend. But not nearly enough to satisfy the forum or me. Not nearly as much as other forums I visit.

Anyway, just wanted to get a reading on this, as to why our trend seems to be weekday only forum.

    Thanks,
    Lex

Yep, that pretty much covers it

This one pretty much sums it up for me. Weekends are always busy (and too short!) and Heather doesn't let me stay online long enough for me to post most of the time. That plus there usually isn't much to reply to and I don't often have new topics to add.

If I'm gonna have company, or if wifey and I want to visit family, etc., it's usually on the weekend. I've popped in on weekends now and then, and Lex is correct. There is very little activity. I've occasionally left a post that doesn't get a reply until the first of the week. But I'll pop in on weekends whenever I can.

I won't bother to reply to this thread since I've already posted in other threads this weekend. :>)

Lex, with my HT room project getting into gear, I'm spending my "weekend time" on that. I've only got two more weekends to get to the stage that the carpet can be installed, and it's showing up on Friday the 20th. However, I'll make more of an effort to stop in during the Friday-Sunday evenings.

With my travel schedule my weekend postings vary. Since this was the first weekend home in 3 weeks my time was devoted to the future misses and the house. (By the way, I just put in the over the range microwave) My weekends are also booked till after the wedding. But I will try make a special post that weekend .

I have the best exscuse, Thursday I was working on a Madonna rock video and a inept special "attempts" crew managed to crush my left hand and sever my little finger. I had surgery Friday and was kept in the hospital until Monday night. As soon as I can type with two hands I will report on my new Ayre gear which has arrived but, is still in the boxes

Any chance you can take Madonna down for this?

Wow, thanks for the thoughts. I wasn't trolling for sympathy but, I have to admit that having people let you know they care really feels good.
I spent most of a day in surgery with a surgen that specializes in hands. Wouldn't you know it, I'm left handed and that's the one that was crushed. The finger is sowed back on and all the bones in the other fingers have been set, nailed, screwed and whatever else they did. I wouldn't leave the set until they found my finger and I had it clutched in my other hand packed in ice.
Heck, once I got to the hospital and they gave me some morphine IV everything was very nice. For the next few days I am still cruising on some pain meds that make the world pretty rosey 8)

Damn Bob, sounds horrific. Sounds like this might be your retirement ticket with full benefits, lawsuit, the whole enchilada. I hope you can get your audio equipment setup to enjoy it while healing. I sure hope the work they did all heals with wonderful results.

Damn smart move not leaving the set without your finger! OMG, the pain must have been excrutiating. Likely still is, without massive pain killers.

Stay tough Bob, you will prevail! You seem to coping pretty well, likely much better than I would have. Best of luck! It's damn sure got to get better!

                                    Damn that's horrible bob 8O

Several years ago I cut my a finger on my right hand down to the bone just past the knuckle and it required 7 stitches to close it back up which isn't that much really. I now have a nice scare where the cut was and it took well over a year before I had feeling back in the tip of my finger so your finger will take a long time to come around...assuming it does at all since your's was far worse then mine. I still get nasty tingles if I happen to press on the cut line which usually occurs when I'm opening a door with a key since it presses right on the cut line...hurts like a buggar.

Anyway best wishes and good luck nailing them for some $$$$

Eduardo, I like the way you think.
Quick update, went to the surgans office yesterday. My wife insisted that she come in with me. The idea was for him to unwrap it and pull the external stiches, until then I have a bunch of metal splints instead of a cast. When my wife saw all the suturing she started looking dazed. When the surgan started going into detail about where bones popped through where and sewing on fingernails for protection and comfort she decided to leave. Anyways, he still couldn't pull the sutures but, rewrapped it and resplint it in such a way that I now can type using the thumb and middle finger.
Surprisingly, at this point it hardly hurts at all.

Bob, wrapping your hand differently to get more activity sounds like a bit of progress. Good deal!

LOL Eduardo. I wish I could come down, but being a full time Dad is a full time job. So, not many if any road trips for me this year.

                                                          Lex,
Speaking of road trips, I will be doing a series of commercials for some cruiseline in Mexico and the Carribean next month. I beleive we eventually end up in Florida, maybe I'll route my flight home through Tenn. and give you another visit, if that's o'k with you.
I wanted to talk to you about some custom interconnects anyways.
