Hello all, well, I have went off the deep end, officially... I just started a new cable based web site called:
http://www.cablesynergy.com
The name is fairly self evident, but there's more to it than that. There's also a DIY "getting started" for making cables, about the what's needed, the basics. I hope to have more specific articles and info coming as I add qualified people to the site. I also plan to refine existing information with photo illustrations, etc...
This site also has a Cable Forum, called, well, for lack of better "The Cable Forum". (http://www.thecableforum.com) You will notice a familiar look and feel to your beloved HTGuide. That's a good thing, right? Actually, using the new HTG format got the site up and running faster, not having to re-invent the wheel. I do like the HTG graphics better than our old graphics, and without designing new, that was my only option.
You will notice that HTGuide is a Forum Alliance member, as are my two cable companies. Of course, no one else is interested in advertising until the site grows and matures some.
My purpose of posting this here is not to take members away from HTG, or topics. Just to say hey, here it is, if your interested, and want to sign up, great! Also, if you see someone wanting to build their on cables, let them know about Cable Synergy. Maybe there will be helpful info there for them.
It was mentioned, it would be nice to use the same member database as HTG. I hate to do that though, cause I don't like doing things to people's identities without their permission. As in replicating them. I started out with a home theater forum as well there, but removed it at the request of someone close to us, as we don't want to duplicate to much. We'd rather them come to HTG!
The site's focus is decidedly 2 channel oriented, but with a flair for all cables, audio and video. So, if you need info, or maybe know of someone qualified that wants to help develop the site, let me know!
The site needs warm bodies initially. It needs a member base, even if not that active. So, if you want to help out, feel free to at least join.
Thanks for listening, and good listening and viewing!
Oh, and before you think to yourself, isn't he to close to the cable business to objectively run this site? Well, I admit, it will be somewhat of a personal challenge. However, I will be adhering to the site rules, just like everyone else, and you will note the absense of ads on the main site, Cable Synergy. Further, normally, as an Admin, I will be posting as Doug. When I am a manufacturer, I will be posting as Lex. OMG, the split personality surfaces again, lol.
This way, I address forum issues without my own company monikor attached. But when it's down in the trenches cables, I am a manufacturer, just like everyone else that may come there eventually...
