Effects wizards bound for Banff
The real-life sorcerers who made movie magic in Lord of the Rings will cast a spell over the Banff Television Festival.
The event, set for June 11, will feature a presentation by some of the companies involved in creating the digital effects for the blockbuster film, festival organizers announced yesterday.
"We're definitely excited.
"It's going to be a great added feature to the week-long festival," said Heidi Bobiak, communications manager of the Banff Television Foundation
The post-production companies include Weta Workshop, Weta Digital, The Film Unit, and Oktober.
The Banff stop is one of three such presentations the effects wizards are making in North America.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, starring Elijah Wood and Ian McKellen, was released last year to become one of the biggest hits in history, winning four Academy Awards, including best visual effects.
The sequel, The Two Towers, will be out in December.
