    Now this IS a warranty...

I was reading a review on the new Dukane LCOS front projector (the Image Pro 9115) and lo and behold, they are offering a 5YEAR WARRANTY. This is amazing, considering most other mfgrs offer 3 years on lcd and dlp projectors. Not to mention SONY who are now only offering 2 years on their projectors. For Dukane to make this kind of a warranty tells me they have a lot of faith in their product. What does that say about Sony ?

What does that say about Sony? Hmmm, that they are one of the largest (and richest) electronics manufactures on the planet.

    And that Dukane is not.

Actually some bean counter at Sony probably saw a 5% increase in warranty returns after 2 years, therefore if you drop the warranty to under that curve you've just achieved more net profit for the books, and you get a big raise and a bonus and a new playstation 2 for your hardwork.

Although I'm sure the Dukane is an excellent unit, and that does have a big marketing impact being able to say you have 2-3 more years of warranty coverage than your competition.

The NEW Hitachi LCOS projector is a Dukane clone, so maybe Dukane won't be small much longer.

        next generation Sony XBRs . . .
        by moe32274
Ok. I love the new Sony LCoS HDTVs - I get a warm, fuzzy feeling each time I think about the R50XBR1 at nite before bed . . . . .

But I am annoyed by the fact that it will not accept a 1080p signal - ostensibly because of unresolved copyright issues. So, I have a few questions...

Is This A Sign Of The Times ?
        by George Bellefontaine
Sony is changing the warranty on their video projectors from 3 years to two.I own a Sony VPL400 lcd projector and it was certainly great having the 3 year warranty. Some of my problems with the projector came in the 3rd year so I would have been S--out of luck with a 2 year warranty. However, this only...

        RDC-7: 2 or 3 years warranty?
        by Razvan
On the warranty card that came with my RDC-7 it's written that the warranty period for Integra Research receivers is 2 years parts and labor while for CD, DVD players and Plasma monitors it is 1 year parts and labor. No word on what the warranty for processors is. As far as I know Integra Research doesn't...
