Star Wars in Dolby Digital rules!!!

I got my AC-3 demodulator for the old laserdisc player this weekend and I've watched all four Star Wars movies already. I just have to say that it was worth getting reamed on eBay to get the demodulator. I think the sound in Episode 1 alone is worth it.

I think I'm going to go watch it again. Holy crap those lightsaber effects are AWESOME when they pan across the entire room!!!

Did I mention this is awesome?

I told ya. I said that once you listen to your DD lasers, you'll forget all about the price of the demod. Happy listening

Have you heard the previous SW release in Dolby Surround? It's fantastic, and in some respects better than the DD remix IMO. But the video quality of the SE absolutly kicks.

            Well, think about this.

I've heard that FOX is going to broadcast TPM in 480P (SDTV) from a number of their DTV stations (inlcuding in San Francisco) on April 29. Not 720P, unfortunately, but still, it should be sweet. Hopefully will have the Teleman HiPixx board running smoothly by then, and can record it. Wish it would be in 720P, but that's too much to expect, I guess.

I haven't watched the original Star Wars movies in awhile actually. Obviously I just watched the Special Editions in DD this weekend, and I loved it!

You are talking about the older transfer right? I've got the Star Wars Definitive Collector's Edition LD's, maybe I'll go back and do a comparison to the DD soundtrack of the Special Edition...

Of course, I'll have to wait until I have some more free time.

On a side note, as I was watching the Special Edition, I got to thinking that it is not likely that George Lucas is going to release the original Star Wars on DVD, and I think that's a little depressing. I'd imagine only the Special Editions will be on DVD.

I read somewhere that there would be a DVD release of Star Wars (all episodes) after they're all finished....approx. 2005 or later.
