anyone know the results of biamping with 2 different amps?

I have a pair of B&W N802's, which are rated at 500W. I just purchased a pair of Nuforce Ref9's to replace my cinnenova grande5. I was thinking about the possibility of biamping the N802's with the ref9's for low and the cinnenova grande 5 with high. does anyone have any experience mixing brands? what kind of results does it yield?

I know I will have to try for myself, just wondering if anyone has any feedback.
I'm just sittin here watchin the wheels go round and round...

Mixing different amps can result in gain problems, but when using an active crossover then most problems can be fixed.

The best thing is just to try it and see. I have a fair amount of experience with multi-amping in pure audio systems and based on that experience I would say you can get very good results with different amps but you may spend a lot of time tweaking things to get everything just right. Note that you might spend just as much time tweaking things to get everything just right even with identical amps, as the units and frequencies are different.

Why did you replace your Earthquake? It seems like a geat amp. Any issues with it?

I would be worried about using the 2 different amps. There are a whole host of reasons. Sound Stage, Power, Amps, Analog vs. digital ( I think that the nuforce amps are digital right?) But that is just my take on the issue.

Some amps do better at high end then others, some amps do better on the bottom end. When I do pro sound, I normally use digital amps for bottom end and my old analogs for top end. Try it you might really like what you can come up with. You have the amps so it just takes some time. Let us know what you find out and wether you like the results or not.

B&W N802s - How many watts for HT?

I power my B&W N802s with a 100W integrated (Classe CAP 2100) which I find adequate for 2 channel audio...

I was wondering whether 100 Watts would work just as well for HT duties? The center channel is an B&W HTM-1. I'm wondering - is power defficieny more or less obvious in...

                $9999 N802s

I saw these when they were first listed and sent the seller a message.
They obviously have no idea wtf they are dealing with. I politely suggested that they would be looking at under 4000$ for the pair since nice complete pairs of 802s go for 4-5k with boxes.

                rotel - biamping
                by radim
Which of these mix are best for biamping in this price category ?
One 1075 is basic. Biamping for main speakers - of course for stereo.

                1. 1075 + 1075
                2. 1075 + 2 x 1070
                3. 1075 + 1090 (no biamping)

Just received my 804's but have not hooked them up yet. I'm contemplating biamping them versus single wiring. Does anyone have an opinion on biamping? I've read in multiple posts that biwiring doesn't do much in terms of an audible difference but biamping can due to isolated current to the high and...

                Hey,

I am planning another speaker build for summer. I built the sealed CJD RS150 MTMs (with Seas H1212 tweeters) a couple years ago, and love them. I began doing freelance recording and mixing a year ago and have been using these as my main monitors with great results. I use 4 IB15s...
