i don't know, cage is very well regarded, and 5:33 is one of his most well know composition. yes their is sheet music available for it. add to that the dummy had the balls to name cage as a co-writer. I see this as no different than someone sampling someone else's music and then attaching the original musicians name to it and claiming they were involved.Originally posted by Kevin PComment

There wa also a story quite a while back that there a quite a few blank tracks on the iTunes Music Store, of varying lengths, and TheRegister was commenting on how some were a much better value at several minutes of silence for $.99 vs. others that were well under 1 minute.

So, does that mean we are committing copyright infringement everytime we turn our audio systems off, after all, they are playing a version of silence (of any length), when we shut the power off. I guess the John Cage Trust will be suing every manufacturer that provides a power switch, mute, stop, pause, or allows the volume to be turned all the way down, next.
As for claiming royalties, it's not like it took any effort to record several minutes of silence. I can do a fine sounding remake of that piece by pressing one button.
We need to go back to the old days when musicians and companies actually had to earn their money...Comment

Sitting here thinking of all the unnecessary bickering that has gone on - finances, dogs, house, etc. But of all the 'big' things that the final settlement agreement details, there is only mention of three household items.
