Hi folks,
I've spotted a used Marantz 5400 and denon 2802 on the used market and I'm trying to decide between the 2.
I have not listend to a 2802, but I have listened to a 2803. Compared to the 5400, I think the Denon is a tad too 'bright' in the high end, like when watching movies the dialogues become EXTRA clear to a point it's almost artificial. That said, I don't think there's a lot to pick between the 2803 and the 5400. The 2803 is the 'better' receiver on paper but having listened to the 2 I'd say the 2 are pretty equal.
The 2802 though, does not support 96/24 DTS, which the 5400 does.
The equipment can be had for ~ the same price in the used market. Marantz still has warranty on it, the denon doesn't.
Which one would you take?
thanks!
