Response from Proceed on new features...

I sent an email to Proceed today regarding support of the new DTS modes that the new Denon receivers have. Todd Sutherland from Madrigal replied to my questions - in fact within about 20 minutes of when I sent the email.

    >I'm 1 software revision from current (I don't
    >need the PHAST features added in the current
    >release), which gives me DTS Music, DTS Film,
    >and DTS Film/THX modes. When I play anything
    >with DTS encoding, the AVP always defaults to
    >DTS Music mode. Given that 95% of my use is
    >for movies, is there any way to default to DTS
    >Film mode rather than having to toggle to it?

[Todd Sutherland] I'm afraid there isn't. We had
to choose one mode for default, as the DTS
bitstream doesn't put out specific identification
    tags like Dolby Digital does.

    >What is the status of support for 24 bit / 96
    >kHz sources?

[Todd Sutherland] Still on the table. Please stay tuned.

    >Will support be added for THX-EX, DTS-ES (both >Discrete 6.1 and Matrix 6.1), and DTS Neo:6? If
    >so, when can these features be expected (I'm not
    >expecting exact dates, but something along the
    >lines of "within the next 6 months")?

[Todd Sutherland] Yes, our plans for the release are within the next six months.

    >A while back, I had requested specific display
    >mode functions available through IR and/or
    >serial commands. The response that I received
    >was:

[Todd Sutherland] We haven't made any ground on this, as we've had our hands more than full with the PMDT software and 24/96k. maybe down the road a bit.

    Happy Holidays!

Conversation with Todd Sutherland of Madrigal
    by greynolds
I had a brief exchange of emails with Todd Sutherland of Madrigal today about the future of the AVP. I asked Todd if it would be OK to copy our conversation to this group - he said sure. Note that he was still at work at nearly 8PM tonight (when I received his last response), so he's certainly a dedicated...

The Future of the Proceed AVP
    by greynolds
Finally, Proceed has made an announcement about the forthcoming upgrade for the AVP. Quite frankly, they are pretty vague about specific features and the cost, but at least they have made an announcement. What follows is the announcement from their web page (Proceed/Mark Levinson News):

What features would you like on the next Rotel Preamp?
    by boe
Just curious what features you would like on the next Rotel Preamp (processor - I'll say the successor to the 1068 to clarify). I realize what I would like won't match up with everyone else but I do get some great ideas from the people on this forum.

Some things I would like to see -...

    Proceed HPA-2
    by Ken McDaniel
"Lex, I have switched my brand," I was telling out benevolent benefactor last night. I spent most of yesterday at a store in Kansas City called Audioport, a wonderful store with great staff. I was there with the purpose of improving the 2-channel dynamics of my Sonus Faber Concerto Grand Pianos....

Upgrade Proceed PRE & PDP to a Proceed AVP?
    by timjclark
I currently use a Proceed PRE as my 2-channel preamp and use the SSP pass through from my Rotel rsp-1069 for integration into my home theater. I also have a Proceed CDD transport and Proceed PDP D/A for cds.

I am toying with replacing the PRE and the PDP with an AVP. The AVP being newer...
