Defeating The DVD Logo Screen On An RP-91

HELP!!!! How do I turn off the DVD Logo screen on my Panasonic RP-91K DVD player? It's the screen that displays EVERY time the machine is turned on, and I'm afraid it's going to cause some burn-in before long.

    I don't think that's possible

Are you saying that you don't think it is possible to turn off the logo or that you don't think it is possible that it would cause burn-in? Inquiring minds want to know. :>)

I agree with Andrew. The length of time the DVD logo intro is on the screen is insufficient to cause any burn in issues. I'd be more worried about showing movies in formats in 2.35:1 which are wider than the standard 16:9 ratio of 1.85:1 or watching standard 4:3 pictures. My TV illuminates the "black bars" at the side when watching 4:3 (it becomes grey) so that there is no burn -in effect.

David, if you have your contrast and brightness levels set properly, your chances of burn in are slim to none.

Most cases of burn in are caused by running the set in "torch mode" or by showing a static image 24/7.

Settings are fine - calibrated with AVIA. But, this screen shows up every time you power on the DVD, every time you stop the DVD, every time you eject the tray, etc. and it is static. I am concerned.

Both I don't think you can not show the logo but I seriously doubt it will be on long enough to cause damage...esp if you've calibrated with Avia

On my Toshiba Player, I can also choose a grey background...

Go into the set up menu of the player, and I'm quite positive that there will be an option for that!

Can't be done. There's nothing in the set-up, so I contacted Panasonic support. Here's their reply:
                  Dear Mr. Meek

                  Re:
Thank you for your inquiry. We regret to inform you that the DVD logo
                  cannot be turned off.

                  Thank You,
                  Panasonic Consumer Support

                  Service menu access, anyone?

Curious, I've had mine for two and a half years now but never had this problem. I'll ask our Tech, if he has any ideas for you.

I'll send you an email if not or post here if he does.

Sounds like a software thing to me, kind of like the windows display at the start of computer bootup. Without new software (yea, find that) your out-of-luck.

David..........I just realized after speaking with our Tech and also with Panasonic today that you weren't complaining about the Logo being there during play......DUH!! I was assured by Panasonic that the screen only comes up on stop or power up as do many other DVD palyers (And mine too). Double Duh!! :bash:
There is no way to get rid of it. That's the way they are all programmed. :banghead:

                          Sorry Bud!!
