    Powered Curtains

I've recessed my RPTV into the wall so that the screen is flush with the wall. I'm toying with the idea of putting power-openable curtains in front of it and was wondering if anyone had experience with them.

How much extra space is needed on the top and sides of an opening to accomodate track, curtain body, etc? Are there weight constraints? What type of power, 110/220? What are other considerations?

David -- If I read what you are after correctly, you are looking for a way to motorize "theater curtains" to cover up the TV set when not in use, rather than screen masking (although the page Andrew pointed to sure has some interesting ideas for that which might come in handy later for a front projection system). If so, then you might want to look at something like the devices described here: http://www.jkmribbon.com/conso/curtain.html

Basically, you can use a heavy duty curtain rod available at most hardware stores, and add the motorizing hardware.

Oh my bad. Yes, the concealing curtain look is what I'm working towards. Not so much the masks although that would be cool.

David, I'll be putting up motorized curtains very shortly...so stay tuned...and yes, all you need to do is buy a standard curtain rod and then attached a "motor" to the curtain cord loop!

Here's the motor I'm using, that will be controlled via an X-10 module:
