    Powered Curtains

I've recessed my RPTV into the wall so that the screen is flush with the wall. I'm toying with the idea of putting power-openable curtains in front of it and was wondering if anyone had experience with them.

How much extra space is needed on the top and sides of an opening to accomodate track, curtain body, etc? Are there weight constraints? What type of power, 110/220? What are other considerations?

David -- If I read what you are after correctly, you are looking for a way to motorize "theater curtains" to cover up the TV set when not in use, rather than screen masking (although the page Andrew pointed to sure has some interesting ideas for that which might come in handy later for a front projection system). If so, then you might want to look at something like the devices described here: http://www.jkmribbon.com/conso/curtain.html

Basically, you can use a heavy duty curtain rod available at most hardware stores, and add the motorizing hardware.

Oh my bad. Yes, the concealing curtain look is what I'm working towards. Not so much the masks although that would be cool.

David, I'll be putting up motorized curtains very shortly...so stay tuned...and yes, all you need to do is buy a standard curtain rod and then attached a "motor" to the curtain cord loop!

Here's the motor I'm using, that will be controlled via an X-10 module:

Having become quickly a die-hard afficionado of multi-channel (ONLY) SACD recordings, I fear for the future of the format and have sent an eMail letter to a dozen SACD content providers which I duplicate here and humbly ask everyone with influence to carry the message on:

                  RSP-1098 - Hardware Upgradable?
                  by Stevebez
Have not seen a 1098 "in the flesh", but curious about the hardware upgradability given the nature of the build - i.e. most of the input / output cards are vertically mounted.

Was wondering if the manner they are connected to the main board is of the type of a PC board. I.e....

                  1098 hardware upgradable
                  by rosros
Spoke to Mike Sheenan at Rotel. I pointed out that the 1098 is set up like a computer with cards based pci slots. I inquired if this set up would allow the 1098 to be hardware upgradable; much like a computer by swapping out boards. More specifically I asked if the 1098 would allow for the new 5 series...

                  Hey everyone,

I just bought a house that's still being built. The wiring company called and arranged my preferences and upgrades and part of the option included my plasma to be mounted on the wall over a "slave box". In the "slave box" is an ethernet jack that the...

                  Mounting Hardware Sizes
                  by m1ke323
I am ordering my mounting hardware from McMaster.com and am not sure what size hardware to get. The speakers I am using are the RS28, RS150, and RS225. I have heard multiple sizes for the RS28, either #6 or #8, which one? The RS150 and the RS225 I assume a #10 would work, or should I go bigger on...
