That is just too damn wild! 8O

I really like the idea of the military's roll-up map that is fed by satellites.

Cool! I just saw Minority Report the other day and this technology brings visions of newspapers and magazines with moving/changing pictures and text.

It would be really cool to have a real-time traffic map of the Houston area on a small roll up map that could be carried in the car, and a large display at home showing movies (wonder if they can go hi-def with this?) -- "front projection" sized video without the front projector.

I think the applications for this type of technology is endless. Maybe even those moving pictures like in Harry Potter.

And I just wasted a bunch of money on a FireHawk screen.

              Hey! Who's calling me a Geek? Of all the . . . how dare . . . oh, I AM a Geek. Nevermind.
              :B

Burke, that's a fine idea about the traffic map. I'd pay good money for that - no joke. And FP with out the P? That'd give you all sorts of options in HT room design.

                    Acoustic Visions Kilimanjaro 15" Subwoofer?
                    by hotwheels
I am thrashing around trying to improve my audio for music and HT. I am searching for a musical sub that has enough power for a 17x25x9.5 foot room that opens to a couple of other rooms. At first I was going to try the infinite baffle route, but too many unknowns and time for me right now.

Well, I quitely added this TV to supplement my front projection since I saw real quickly that I was going to crank a lot of hours on my PJ in a hurry. It's an HDTV monitor, the following applies: (Extracted from Plasma Depot since it was actually better than Sony's writeup.) I won't address each feature...

                    by Dean McManis
I figured that I'd be holding off on HT purchases for a while until I saw some of the black friday prices on LCD displays.

I got up at 6AM on Friday morning expecting that nobody would be out that early (OK I'm new to black friday shopping) and I saw that there were hundreds of people...

RT-1080 tuner - display is too dim
                    by kneptune
I just traded in an early version of the current RT-1080 tuner (was black version) for a newer silver version of the 1080 tuner (had to make it match the silver RSP-1098 - for the all important WAF).

As per the RT-1080 owner's manual addendum, the newer 1080's display now functions slightly...
