    Wireless Surround Speakers

Anyone have firsthand experience with wireless surround speakers? Are there any worth a hoot or is it a waste of money/time to consider them?

Asking for a friend with "wiring challenges".

Altho Ive never heard or tried wireless speakers, ive read that KEF makes some decent ones. You can either buy the wireless speakers or they also offer an add-on to current surrounds....Id most likely stay away from box store type wireless speakers as ive also heard people having problems with them. The KEF 5000 series is offered as wireless.

I have the KEF transmitter with back surround speakers. I can't really recommend them. 2 issues
#1: There seems to be a minimal volume threshold that needs to be met before they kick in. Below that threshold you get this "fluttering" audio effect, where the sound will cut in and out (the sounds above the threshold will be in and the sounds below the threshold will be out). Very annoying.

#2: Once in a while I'll get really loud random pops, regardless of the volume or what's playing. Not as annoying but a little disconcerting.

If you can string some wires around, I would definitely do it rather than futz with these expensive but ultimately unsatisfying transmitters.

Hi guys - got a coupla questions for ya :

            1. For your surround speakers, do you favour dipole or bipole speakers ?

            2. I'm under the impression that dipoles are good provided you have the walls that the sound can bounce off or else it's no use.

            3. As for...

I want to build some surround speakers
            by chasw98
I built my sub with Thomas and Steve Callas help and the results are fantastic. My confidence is up and I am ready for more. I own Ascend 340SE's across the front and have some old KEF's for surround in a 5.1 setup. I have been thinking of buying Ascend 170SE's and then I thought "Why not build...

            Hi all,

I would like to know what your opinions are as I'm trying to decide whether I should get the 703's or 704's as surround speakers. I'm just looking for thoughts and opinions on these two speakers only as I already have ruled out using bookshelf speakers for my surrounds. I will...

            hi,

Pls see my room layout attchd with dimensions. The height of my room is 9.5 ft and I cannot change the layout much except for bringing the TV to the left slightly so that its more in line of sight with the Sofa. I will leave 20%(as suggested by an acoustic engineer) of the total length...

CM9's , what surround speakers you guys using?
            by Dmantis
            What's up people?
If you take a look at the CM line for theater , you will notice they don't offer a perfectly matched on wall surround option. Having just bookshelf speakers for surrounds is not a good choice for many many many rooms including mine. I'm looking for an on wall option.
