    Wiring Question

I am wiring some dual voice coil subs, 8 ohm. I have 4 drivers and 2 amp channels. I was going to wire the speakers in series, then two together in parallel. Here is a picture from crutchfields.

The wiring on the voice coil looks right, but the parallel wiring looks different. Here is another picture. Look at option #2.

So this picture shows one positive amp channel being wired to the 2 postive terminals on the 2 speakers. Crutchfield shows the positive from one amp channel going to the negative on the terminal wired in series.

Which one is correct, or are they both accomplishing the same thing. Thanks.

There may be some funky way of wiring that I've never seen in the Crutchfield diagram, but I'm pretty sure its wrong. May work, but stick to the second picture.

Thanks. I thought it looked a little strange, compared to all the other pictures.

          Dual Voice Coil (DVC)

A dual voice coil (DVC) design is a configuration commonly used in loudspeaker drivers, particularly subwoofers. It involves a speaker driver with two separate voice coils wound on a shared former (the cylindrical structure that holds the voice coils), each connected to its own set of terminals. Each voice coil is wound with its own wire, and they are physically separated but located on the same former. The former is connected to the speaker cone, which moves in

on an inductor (air core coil), which end is the gozinta and which is the gozouta?

I wired mine with the wire coming from the inside of the coil as the "in" or "from source" and the outer wire as the "out" or "to driver"

          is that right?...

I recently purchase two 15” Ascendant Audio Avalanche subs based on many of the recommendations of this forum. I really got a lot out of this forum, there is a lot of great information. I especially liked the “DIY newbie” thread started by ajpoe.

Just thought I'd share my recent updates, to bring my system fully into the Internet age. We moved recently to a condo that had very limited tv service, and just this week got hooked up to Comcast hi-def service. Since I had hi-def in my old house (9 months ago), it was a looooooong wait to get back...
