    Let the gouging begin

On one hand people talk about Blu-ray replacing DVD. On the other, everyone involved is implementing pricing models that aren't very conducive to that goal so far.

    Hopefully Blockbuster won't follow.

I usually don't rent movies. So, meh. But, yea if I did want to rent something that would suck to have to pay extra.

It's not like I already have to pay extra for the player and media.

Too late. Blockbuster has been charging a premium since the stores started caring the format. In fact most promotional offers for movie rentals would only apply to DVD's not BD's. The fee varies but generally has been around $.50 extra per disc.

Maybe for in-store rentals, but BB subscription service does not list any "premium" charges for HD rentals.

Yay zip.ca then. No extra charges for HD DVD/Blu-ray rentals (and, so far, no HD DVDs in bad shape despite their more fragile nature vs SD DVD). :T

Monopolistic price gouging & a case for regulation-

Since I moved into our current neighborhood I have had basically two choices, Comcast or nothing. I do not include Dish because like many households, we bundle phone, internet & cable TV. Granted, this practice may not be typical...

So, you thought you had a great deal with Net Flix? Well, do ya?
                  by Lex
It seems that depends upon how much you use it. sort of a catch 22. To be a great deal, you have to use it enough to make it payout at least what it would cost to rent locally, which granted, that wouldn't be to hard to do. But be a Netflix "Speed renter", that means turn them around as...

                  The Birthday Girl

Stars Ben Chaplin as John, Nicole Kidman as Nadia, and is directed by Jez Butterworth.

Rated: R for sexuality and language. There's some minor violence, too.

Premise: Sometimes, especially with people, what you get isn't what you were expecting.

Ok, how are these 3 related? I've recently heard that studios with increased production costs for big budget films, and increased payrolls for high priced actors, increased cut for theaters (overdue), don't even plan on films being profitable at the box office. They depend on DVD, and other media...

                  Hi everyone,

This email is a combination of a request for moral support and a question...

Here's my story... I've owned a RSX-1055 for about 3 years now, and I'm very happy with it. Fantastic gear. Great sound. Until one day, it started to make some weird noises through...
