Can't get HDMI output to work...

On my Pioneer VSX-1017 TXV with my new Sharp 42D64U. I ditched the component cable I was running before and picked up a HDMI 1.3 cable. I have it hooked up to the 'out' HDMI port on my receiver, and one of the inlet ports on the TV. I tried selecting the appropriate input on the TV. I still get no picture.
None of the components I have are HDMI capable. Does my receiver not transfer other types of signals to HDMI? Or am I just doing something wrong? Thanks for any help.

A lot of receivers will not send a signal out of a different type out than received. Usually S-video , component and HDMI come out of the receiver the same . That has begun to change in the last year or so. Onkyo has a few that will upscale all inputs to a HDMI output. I believe Denon does , as well. I wasn't able to find this info on yours with a quick google search , but that may well be the problem.

I see. So I really need to have a cable running to the TV to match every type of cable I have running to the receiver then. *tears*
Well, at least I know now. Thanks for the response.

Not so fast! I just found this http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pi...-1017TXV-K.pdf

Looks like it will convert all inputs to component out. The cnet review seems to back up the inability to convert to HDMI , but it looks like a nice receiver. http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-12760_7-9674077-5.html

I installed a H20-600 LG Dirctv HD receiver and for the most part I'm pretty happy. I hope you can help me sort out some audio problems.

I am using HDMI to Panasonic tube and the picture is great. For audio, I have a optical cable running to an Onkyo HT-R500 5.1 and in the Pro logic...

I'm hoping somebody here can help me with an idea.

My house has a centralized equipment room in the lower level, distributed throughout the whole house. Therefore, for the two most important A/V zones, the theater and the living room, there is an in-wall conduit for each from the equipment...

How I've added HDMI 1.3 high bitrate audio decoding to my Parasound C1
          by Chris D
Quite a thread title, I guess. Perhaps I should subtitle it, "or how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb... I mean, theater."

As the title says, I've added HDMI 1.3 audio decoding to my home theater, centered around the Parasound C1 home theater controller. As...

I had purchased a 50Ft HDMi VizionWare cable 6 months ago for tons of money and the cable died on Monday. I thought at least I have a warranty for a year. Unfortunately, VizionWare the company filed for chapter 7 and is bankrupt!

I have been meaning to find an answer to the question forever. What is the point of using high quality cable from the wall to the cable box, tv etc if the cable running through the house is crap? Now I run monser cable from the wall to the surge protector then to my HDTV cable box then monster componet...
