Just bought an Oppo DVD 981HD player. I hooked video/audio to TV with HDMI cable, and digital coax audio to my pre/pro.(Emotiva LMC-1 by the way). I am noticing a delay between the audio and video picture. It is slight, but was not there with my last Denon DVD player. I can percieve the delay both when I use audio/video just through the TV, as well as when I use video through TV and audio through home theater. I know there is a settting on the oppo player to adjust the audio delay, but did not make a difference. Has anyone else experienced this with the oppo player, and is there any other remedy? Thanks :T

Yes, I notice it with my Oppo 971. DVDs range from having no synch delay at all to having a delay that the adjustment feature in the Oppo can't fix. The latter is very rare, in fact I can only think of one DVD that has had this problem (Hayseed Dixie – "No Sleep Till Liverpool") and one of the two reviewers on Amazon had the same problem. All other DVD's can be fixed using the Oppo's delay adjustment feature. I usually have my Oppo set to 5 and that seems to be OK for most DVDs.
So in conclusion you might like to try some more DVDs before concluding that it's a deficiency in the Oppo.
I sometimes have a bigger problem than the Hayseed Dixie DVD when watching television through my satellite set top box. I can't blame my Oppo for that (well I could but that would defy logic). Unfortunately my satellite set top box doesn't have a delay adjustment feature like my Oppo.

OK guys, thanks for the replies. After more review, it looks like I jumped to conclusion somewhat. The audio/video synch is fine when listening to audio through the TV. However, when listening to the audio through my home theater and watching video on the TV, there is a delay. I cant tell if it is video delayed behind the audio, or vice versa. But there sure is a delay. There is no synch feature on my pre/pro, but Im sure that would be the fix if there were a sunch feature. Anyway, thanks for the help. :T- Bottom

In a nutshell, I love this player. Video quality is excellent using a 60" Panasonic GT50. I only have one 3-D movie so...-

I connected cable box via HDMI to Video 1 and Sony...-
