    7 Channel Amps?

Hi, I am considering going from a 5.1 to a 7.1 set up. I currently run a b&k 7250 II (b&K ref 50 pre/Paradigm 100's, 570, SA series surrounds). Considering a new 7 channel amp to save space. It seems like the new NAD Master series is a strong contender. Any recommendations under $2,500?? Thanks

Stay with B&K and get the Reference 200.7. Great amp at a great price point.

I am going from 5.1 to 7.1 myself. My audio system was integrated into my HT system out of necessity about five years ago. My tube amp drives my front L/R channels and I was using the Audio Refinement Multi-3 to drive the center and surrounds. Now I've added a pair of rear surround speakers, so I am swapping the Multi-3 for a Multi-5. The great thing about Audio Refinement is that the detail is extraordinary and tube-like, so it works well with the tube amp driving my front L/R.

              Hi ACap

I would probably go with a Sunfire Cinema Grand Seven. Much lighter, <40 pounds. Could do 400 X 7 into 4 ohms, however, the wall socket cannot supply enough wattage to do 2,800 watts, even with the high efficiency design. Rated at 200 X 7 into 8 ohms.

Dr. Hsu uses one at his High End HT demos.

              Kind Regards

I will second the suggestion of the Rotel RMB-1077. Do not pay any attention to the seemingly low 100W/Ch. rating. These little guys can drive nearly anything you wire to them. We had a show in our store and the Rotel/B&W rep. set up a 7.1 system using 803D, HTM2D, LCR8 and powered all those B&W speakers with that little 1077. And it was amazing! Both on movies, stereo, and multichannel music.

Its so good, Rotel considers it the best sounding amp they have ever made. And if you do need more power, add a second one and biamp everything. Or they have a new 2 x 100 model out that you could biamp just the fronts.

I'm not dead set on the 200 watt specs. I am not sure what direction to go in. Everyone always says to demo stuff, but it is near impossible to demo exact set ups in stores. Rotel may sound great with B&W, but the sound may differ greatly on Paradigms. Since I plan on buying on Audiogon, it makes it all that more the challenge. I am trying to figure how to make more space so I can just add another amp, but it is a challenge. The 7 channel amp would be much more effective in terms of space, yet I am a spaz when it comes to gear. Recently I have considering a Bryston for the LCR, then run the surrounds on my B&K..........I dont know

I have the emotiva 200x7. Cool modular design & 5 year warrenty. Same basic amp as the comparably spec'd sherbourn.

I would highly recommend either but my preface is towards Denon. I have had several Denon receivers I was very happy with all of them.

The new Denons with HDMI 1.3 compatibility will be shipping in July...I can only hope a good choice for a 7.1 HDMI-switching preamp will also be available by then.

Currently I have a Sunfire Theater Grand 5400 and it supplies plenty of power to my b&w speaker setup. I do recommend a dedicated circuit to power this unit because it can draw tons of current. My TGA is hooked up to a Rotel power conditioner on its own dedicated 20 amp breaker, everything else is on a different Rotel power contditioner on another 20amp line.

I just got offered a 7250 from an authorozed dealer for $1,420. I know that they dis-continued it in 2002, but seems like an awfully good price on a unit that retailed for 2,400 last year. anyone have one of these? What do you think. I was leaning towards a Rotel MB 1095. Thanks in advance

This film is based on Stephen King's novella Secret Window, Secret Garden. I don't know how closely the script follows the novella because I have never been that great a Stephen King fan. It stars Johnny Depp as a recently divorced writer and John Turtorro as a deranged stranger who claims Depp stole...

Hi all, I haven't posted in some time, but I am in store for some major a/v changes and in need of some solid advice.
I currently own a B&K Ref 50/7250 combo. My speakers are Paradigm 100's v2, CC-570, and SA-15R in ceilings (one pair), I use my PS3 for DVD/blu ray. My major issue is this:...
