Hooked up my Laser Disc player

Well, I dug out that Denon LA-2150K laser disc player that was given to me about a year ago. Its been sitting under my bed this whole time and I got bored tonight. :lol:
So now that its hooked up..... I guess I should be on the hunt for some cheap Laser discs.

I still remember seeing these for the first time in the 7th grade science class, watching Jurassic Park on the LD player and thinking we were special. HAHA.

Oh man, how fast things get outdated. By the way... this thing is a TANK! It has to way atleast 20 lbs. :lol:

Yeah, I remember fondly going to a friend's house that had one when we were growing up, and it was the bomb.

Nothing better than a half pound of spinning plastic. I had a Marantz.I had to buy those big squishy audioquest half round pucks to put under the damn thing so it wouldn't shake the whole audio rack.

What can I say

I have a Pioneer CLD-D704 with the dual time base correction and it just blows me away when using a AC-3 encoded Laserdisk

Few DVD's have reached such better sound

I use the Yamaha AC3-RF decoder ..(which has a Pioneer Decoder chip inside too....)

I bought this player in conjuction with the Pioneer AVX-D3S which was the first receiver to have the AC3 RF decoder built in, fully 5.1 and....it was a blast!
then of course stuff happened with parasound 2500U and then the C1 ...sheesh

Yes..Laserdisks ....I have about 200 of them...collected a bunch when I lived in Japan too =)))

Lazer-disc

Hello All,

I thought I was the only person still watching lazer-disc. The sound (AC-3 or DTS is superior to DVD. Picture quality is another thing. We have around 100 disc. I've been looking for one film on lazer disc, DARK CITY-DTS version. Anyone has this one collecting dust?

Well ive picked up a few, and yes, while pic quality is lacking, the sound is quite good.
Im currently listening to Guns N' Roses. Use Your Illusions World Tour, 1992 Tokyo and im quite impressed.

Way-back-when:
I used to sell a ton of the AVX-D3 and the 504 Laser Disc and 704 Laser Disc players, that was fun product, very high customer satisfaction level

I just popped in Pink Floyds PULSE.
Again, VHS quality video, but the sound it quite good. I don't know really how to describe it, but the sound stage it quite good, loud and clear, the bass is very pronounced and tight.

I have the volume up quite far, im sure the output level on the player is lower then my other componenets, ive noticed for the speakers really to scream the reciever is at +10, where as with the other components, I have 0 is pretty loud.

I may have to go pick up the PULSE DVD and do a comparison.

And with that, its time to flip disc 1 to side 2.... :lol:
