What is best TV type in high ambient light? At least 60" HDTV 1080p

What TV does the best job of nullifying the effects of the ambient light, while giving a great picture annd I'm thinking 1080p to future proof it?

LCD is probably your best bet to compete with ambient light but at around 60" it ain't going to come cheap.

      lcd is definitely the best

the sony sxrd xbr2 and pioneer plasma may be doable too

the sony is bright for a rear projection while the pioneer has only one glass panel plus a heavy reflective coating

Being the owner of a Pioneer plasma, you can use one in a high-light environment. But, I think an LCD might be a better choice in that type of room unless you're very concerned with getting the best in black-level performance.

I have one of the JVC HDILAs, and it is still bright enough to see clearly in a sunlit room after a year and a half of use. When it was new, it was too bright to watch at night in a darkened room.

A co-worker is looking at these now and they are in the $2000+ range for the 60+" models for last years.

              I'd look at those too.
