    ARV-7300 and DVD-47

Hi, I'm a newbie with a couple questions........I'll start off with saying HT stuff is not my thing it's all fairly new to be but I'm shopping for a good HT set up and have my eye on a couple of components. I have a Sony XBR40" CRT TV and love it I've had it for 2 years with no problems at all....now I want to add some thing to it. Two of the components are the HK ARV-7300 and the HK dvd-47. One of my questions is, am I wasting my $$ with the dvd-47 since the AVR already has the upscaling? any thoughts on either models would be greatly appreciated. thanks

    Welcome to HTGuide Fev196 :welcome:

It seems that the HK 7300 upconverts through high-resolution component video and even though it uses Faroudja image processing, however the resolution probably only upconverts to 480p through component.

The HK DVD47 DVD (HDMI cable included, I believe) player upscales the signal to 720p/1080i via HDMI, which provides significant video improvement.

Therefore, yes it is worth the money to purchase both of these components, IMHO.

    Peace and blessings,

    Azeke

Expensive Crossover Components - Worth it?
      by chasw98
JonW and I have been looking into a variety of crossover components available and have found that you can spend as much as you want or as little as you want on them. I have seen people recommend using brass (non ferrous metal) screws and rings to attach leads to so that the connections will not act...

Looking for input: Crossover /w adjustable A/B components
      by technodanvan
I'm looking for some input on an idea that I wanted to bounce off the smart guys here.

Whenever I read some of the ideas and opinions behind choices in crossover components and heck, even whole speaker and amplifier differences I'm exposed to descriptions that have no definition in my head....

      Buzzing After Moving Components
      by jimmyp58
I am in the process of getting a new A/V rack but until I settle in on which one to get, I had to take care of the WAF with my current rack/layout. I have two tower racks currently, each one flanking my RPTV/HDTV. Each tower has a series of components plugged into a Monster Power HTS 5100; each 5100...

      Morning all,
I hope your day is going well!!
In my living room the set up I currently have is common. A flat screen TV that sits on top of a cabinet that houses the individual components for the HT. The wall that these components and T.V. currently sit along is also a shared wall to...
