    I DIY'd a cap back in college. Standard printer paper with aluminum foil rolled up (I didn't have any Saran wrap). It was about 8nF without oil and 11nF when I poured some vegetable oil over the paper. It was nothing more than a "hey what if" experiment. Values were measured with a digital multimeter.
