    Subwoofer recommendation.

I am planning to upgrade my Sub. Considering these 2 models. Let me hear your input on this. Thank you.

    Velodyne SPL800R = $1000+
    Sunfire D10 = $940

    Any experience with this models?

If you want the most sub for your money, try SVS (or DIY for that matter). Otherwise my vote would likely go to the Velodyne of those two. But really you can get a bigger and better sub from SVS.

I agree with Jason and also second the nomination for SVS. They are great for the money in commercial offerings. Not quite to the level of DIY, but close :T

        I third it.

Another topnotch online sub is Hsu.

Auditioned Hsu (at HE shows), bought SVS.

        Can't go wrong with either.

I'll do another vote for SVS. I haven't heard those two specific subs you list, but apparently SVS is MORE than competitive at those price points with those subs. You can get some of SVS's higher-end subs at those prices, with a money-back satisfaction guarantee, in-home trial, etc.

          I have dual SVS PC-Ultras.

Problem is, there is no distributor for SVS nor HSU in my place.

Doesn't matter... SVS - and Hsu - are online mail order... with 30- or 45-day guarantee policies.

                  Do your self a favor:

SVS builds speakers, subwoofers and audio accessories for music and home theater surround sound systems. Proudly engineered in Youngstown, Ohio.
Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards.

I pulled the trigger and bought the "woofer by Carver Dominator 8". I think it is a safer pick cuz, if something goes wrong there is a distributor/service center that will take care of it. SVS is I think also good, but with the price of the unit and the shipping cost of bringing it to Hong Kong makes it almost double the price of the D8.

                          SVS PB13-Ultra VS. Velodyne DD12
                          by SoundEngine355
                          Hi,

                          I'm down to two subwoofers.

                          SVS PB13-Ultra VS. Velodyne DD12

Pros and Cons I can think of:

                          1. SVS is $500 cheaper
                          2. Velodyne is smaller, SVS is double the size
                          3. SVS goes lower according to the tests.
                          4. Velodyne...

                          by duketbrd88
Hello, i just picked up some brand new DM 601 S3"s and ordered a peachtree nova 80w per channel integrated from crutchfield. I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the nova intergrated amp. This is for a second system in a 12x12x8 area. I think it should be fine. i already have 804S's and...

                          SVS SB12-plus + 800 series?

Just when I thought the sky of options was clearing a bit I came along the SVS SB12-plus :x .

Does anyone have an idea how this sub competes against for instance a Velodyne SPL1000-R/1200-R?

I allready demo-ed the ASW700 at home and I was actually not that impressed,...

                          803D based system: B&W ASW700/Velodyne/SVS sub?
                          by ray5
Hi! I have finally decided to get my system upgraded. After months of planning, reading and auditioning I have decided on 803D fronts with HTM2D ctr with Rotel 1570/1575 combo. Exhausted my funds and hence no rears at this time. My query is what sub to get? I had initially intended to get the ASW700...
