WTF is wrong with me?? I cant stop buying stuff!!

Damn this is crazy. Today I just bought 4 pair of in-ceiling CCm80 ceiling speakers for my place (and I have no distribution system), Classe 2100 ;x( for my surrounds (currently ccm80 in ceilings  ) and some oh so sweet silver digital interconnects from Lex @ CAT Cables.

This is an illness..... Dam, now I need some 805s for surrounds and some better speaker cables...... When is it gonna stop?

Spend your lawyer money on your system. Believe me you could get a nice system for what lawyers and divorce cost you. :E

lol... this has to be the funniest thread I've ever read. You know... you COULD always just brainwash her. Or go away on a business trip, and use ALL of the per diem money strictly on new stereo toys. That's extra free money.

With the direction this seems to be heading I would say it would go in the After Midnight Forum. However, let's not digress here.

Before I would purchase electronics, large purchases, when my wife left town. It probably took 6 months for her to realize it was there. I have now changed my tune, and let her know before I purchase anything. If I were single, I would probably be really broke -$$$$$$$, but in HT bliss.

                              Back on topic,

My mistake is that, because I am always out of town, I put her in charge of paying bills..... She sees everything now. I guess it keeps me fairly solvent... BTW, I havent told her about these purchases yet... ugh.

The answer is online bill payment (if your bank offers this service). You can pay your bills even when you're out of town or pre-schedule payment dates before you leave home. :T It has been some years since I've paid a bill by check.

Better yet is to maintain 3 separate checking accounts...one for the house and regular bills...then one for me and one for her to spend as we wish. :B

Of course, it helps that we both work.

                                          BTW, back to the topic...

I just picked up a brand new Rotel RMB-1075 at my dealer. Can't wait to set it up. Look for a near-mint Adcom 7700 5-channel amp to show up on audiogon soon. (I try my best not to keep the redundant equipment around...also helps with the wife acceptance factor.)

As for not having a wife, it's great. I'm 14 and have no wife(suprisingly) and in one year I managed to get a system better than the movie theater out of paper route money(1500 a year). I can't wait until I can get a 40hour/week job this summer  .

Way to go Keith. :T That's exactly how I got started and at about the same age too. I inherited my paper route from a friend and used the earnings to purchase records (HT did not exist in those days) and parts for DIY amp and speaker projects.

In 1976 I was 14. It was that year I spent a little over $650 on a receiver (Sansui G-5000) and a pair of speakers (Acoustic V's). They gave me the speaker wire free! That money came from my paper route as well. My net income was about $15.00 per week. I had 33 daily's and a little over 50 Sunday customers.

I still run my Sansui on a regular as it sits in my living room connected to my Phase Tech Teatro 11.5 power towers.

I gave the speakers to my x-wife.

There's no way my wife would have allowed me my B&W N802's or HTM1 center speaker which I purchased last year about this time. At the moment I'm gearing up for my next series of purchases!

I don't see the addiction getting easier. Classe amps, Lexicon HT pre/pro, Benchmark DAC1, all balanced interconnects....excuse me, I think I need lay down now.

Hi. My name is Tony and I can't stop buying stuff, either.

                                                          Crowd: " Hi Tony."

It's been exactly 18 hours and 29 minutes, since my last purchase. I bought myself a second pair of Wharfedale Opus 2 (this time in Rosewood gloss) speakers, for my home office.

Crowd:[starts clapping] " Good job Tony! Eighteen and a half hours is a good start!" Stick with it, man! "

                                                          Thank you.

It all started when I was just a little kid. I fell in love with music and I never stopped loving music. I still remember the first album I heard.........

I'm 20, in college, work 3 months out of the year, and just bought a car. And home speakers. And a tv. And an iPod. And a sub! And power tools for speaker building. And am planning a receiver. And more speakers. And a dvd player. And I eat at nice restaurants.

And to think: I'm going to minor in finance.
